2 2 Dealines Reminer: Annual Financial Report Forms PAST DUE December 1, 2017 Re-enrollment PAST DUE January 1, 2018 Berrien County 4-H: Leaers Council Announcements Alumni Scholarship & Joseph Cerny an Evelyn Cerny Memorial Scholarship The Berrien County 4-H Leaers Association, Inc. announces two scholarship opportunities the Alumni Scholarship an the Joseph Cerny & Evelyn Cerny Memorial Scholarship. The Berrien County 4-H Leaers Association, Inc. annually awars one or more scholarships, for a minimum of $ each. The Joseph Cerny & Evelyn Cerny Memorial Scholarship is also aware annually for a minimum amount of $ an is offere inepenently of the Alumni Scholarship. Although both scholarships are not aware to one recipient in the same year, an eligible applicant may be aware the Cerny Memorial scholarship one year an the Alumni Scholarship another year. NEW 4-H Age Participation Policy Cloverbu Beginning September 1, 2018, the Michigan 4-H Participant Age Policy will change to reflect a younger beginning age for 4-H members. The new age for 4-H members will be 8 to 19 years ol, continuing to use January 1 of the program year (September 1 August 31) as the ate of calculation. The 4-H Cloverbu experience will remain available to youth ages 5 7. This means that 8 year ols will now be elgible to participate in competitive programming, starting with the new program year. This policy change is being implemente after careful consieration of research regaring youth an competitive, evaluation of policies at other lan-grant universities an National 4 -H, as well as lengthy consultation with early chilhoo an Michigan 4-H Youth Development staff. As always, age appropriateness an safety will remain a top consieration for 4-H programming areas an Michigan 4-H will continue to support minimum age limits for certain learning environments that may not be appropriate for chilren 8 years of age. Aitionally, iniviual county 4-H programs with MSU Extension will also retain their right to etermine the beginning age for 4-H involvement within that county. The objectives of the 4-H Spring Achievement program are to: Bring the Hea Heart Hans & Health of 4-H to life! Provie opportunity for 4-H members to emonstrate project-learne skills while builing their portfolio. Provie 4-H members an opportunity to publicly isplay their accomplishments. Provie 4-H members a supportive evaluation for each of their projects. Provie the community an opportunity to see the quality an quantity of work being one by 4-H ers.
