The end of the financial year always brings with it award presentations at Branch, State and National levels, and 2012 has seen many of our members receive recognition for their efforts. The most outstanding recognition for our branch though has come from National Level this year, with both Jenny Scheepers and Felicity Green being nominated for, and receiving, a special State Services Award from the Australian Stock Horse Society. 2 Saddlery Swap Meet Once again the branch will be conducting our annual fundraising Saddlery Swap Meet on Saturday 3rd of November, If you have saddles, hacking jackets, bits, bridles, horse rugs, old photos, saddle blankets, float boots, ropes and leads, memorabilia, hobbles, old horse magazines, stirrup leathers, spurs, whips, riding boots and clothing, general saddlery, in fact anything associated with horses and equestrian events, you can bring it along to sell. Club and trade displays welcome. Sites will cost $10 per 3x3 metre site - bookings essential. $25 for sites over 3x3 metres or for Trade/Club Sites. BYO Table(s) to display items - Vendors set up from 7.30am Saturday 5th November 2010, shoppers in at 8.00am. All vendors take part in the swap meet at their own risk. The SA Central Branch of the Australian Stock Horse Society will not take any liability for any items, lost, stolen or damaged during the course of the swap meet. All vendors will have their stall set up by 7.45am and be packed up no later than 12:30pm. For bookings and additional information please contact Jenny Scheepers - Branch Secretary via ashssacb@bigpond.com or phone: AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STATE OF ORIGIN TIME TRIAL CHALLENGE This NEW TO EQUITANA challenge brings top riders and horses from each state together to complete a tight and demanding course in a time-trial against the clock. Obstacles will be set in Australian bush format, with loads of surprises for competitors, so don t miss this thrilling new addition to the EQUITANA outdoor competition program. 3 ASHS Central Branch Training Days for 2012 The ASHS SA Central Branch will be conducting branch training days at Tilling Hill Indoor Arena at Echunga, with our ASHS Accredited Branch Coaches on the following dates: Saturday - September 15th Saturday - October 20th Saturday November 24th These clinic days are open to ASHS Members riding registered Australian Stock Horses (proof of 2012 membership will be required) and day membership will be available to non ASH members, please enquire for details. Sessions will be conducted in groups (maximum 4 riders). Time slots will be advised to all attendees in the week prior to the training day, after all registrations are received. Numbers are limited, so if you are interested in attending please send the bottom portion of this page with your payment to register and secure your place as soon as possible. Regardless of the weather, we can still conduct the training days, with a good venue/ riding surface and plenty of space for parking your horse float. Maiden horses may compete in novice classes * WHIPS no restriction on whips in led classes. Dressage Whips & hacking canes not permitted in working classes. * All horses competing must be owned/leased by a financial Member of the Australian Stock horse Society Ltd. Persons under 18 yrs are not permitted to handle or ride Stallions or Colts. * ASHLA: (Australian Stock Horse Ladies Association - open to all ASHLA members, proof of membership to be carried and produced upon request, ribbons awarded 1st - 3rd Riders 18 years & over, and ribbons awarded 1st- 3rd Riders 13 & under 18 years) HORSE RIDING CAN BE HAZARDOUS. 8 South Australian Central Branch Membership/ HP Nomination Currently the South Australian Central Branch has over 100 registered members with the Australian Stock Horse Society, and our membership base is spread over a wide area of South Australia. Our members also competed in a wide range of equestrian disciplines throughout the year including the ASHS Nationals held in Tamworth and also open class competition. It is very pleasing to see so many of our riders representing the breed outside of traditional Stock Horse events. To ensure your eligibility to participate for our Branch awards you must complete a SACB Membership Form (please see next page) and not just be a registered member of the ASHS. By law, all incorporated organisations must hold a membership register. This must include names, addresses and occupations of Members, and the date each Member joined the Branch. We look forward to your participation throughout 2012/13 because for a successful Branch to operate, it relies upon an active membership base.
