9 President s Message The 164th Orono Fair is just around the corner. We have a fun and event filled line up scheduled again for all our guests this year. Demo Cross will be returning Thursday night to start off a great weekend of events and entertainment, and the children s Power Wheels derby will be back again. The weekend lineup will also include livestock shows, a chainsaw carver and a blacksmith along with cooking demonstrations in our General Store and a great midway provided by Homeniuk Rides. Our Agricultural education program along with Livestock Lane is always a busy and informative part of the fair to see. Also don t forget to treat yourself to some of the great traditional fair snacks that are always a crowd pleaser. I would once again like to take this time to say a special thank-you to all of our volunteers, directors, executive and sponsors for their dedication and overwhelming help and support. With these people events like this will continue to happen well after 164th year. The fair is a great place to catch up with old friends and also to make lasting memories with new ones. You can stay up to date with us on Facebook or our website Have a safe and fun visit with us and I hope to see you all at the fair. OAS President Todd Graves Ambassador s Message I am excited and honoured to welcome all exhibitors, sponsors, visitors and friends to the 2016 Orono Fair. After last years rain filled weekend, in which our patience and footwear were tested to the limits, I expect that we are due for beautiful sunshine this year. I have been privileged enough to represent the Orono Agricultural Society as their fair ambassador, I witnessed how the volunteers making up the Orono Agricultrual Society rallied together to put on more events this year than before despite the uncertainty of success. It is inspiring to be involved with a group that is so dedicated and passionate about celebrating agriculture and the accomplishments of our community. Thank you for supporting the Orono Fair through your attendance and participation. I look forward to representing Orono and the Clarington community proudly at the CNE Ambassador of the Fairs Competition in August. I encourage anyone who is interested in the ambassador program to take a leap and compete. The ambassador position is what you make of it. If you want to contribute to the fair, your community and are willing to have fun, then this role may just be perfect for you. Your Orono Fair Ambassador Alexandria Breen 9
