This was our 15th year and it has grown so much. We can t THANK YOU all enough for all the support given to Putnam County 4-H and Extension for this great fundraiser! Thanks to all the 4-H Families that helped sell and everyone that helped unload the truck and helped us in anyway, it was appreciated! This year s winners are 1 st Place Lea Simmons 87 dozen sold, 2 nd Place David Ray 57 dozen sold and 3 rd Place Schylar Hirst 38 dozen sold. Thanks to these 4-Her s for all of their hard work. 2 2018 Putnam County Fair Swine Weigh-In/Check In June 4, :00 to 7:00 pm At the Putnam County Fairgrounds All Swine (even breeding) that you wish to show at the Putnam County Fair in September MUST be brought in and tagged. You do not have to weigh but MUST be tagged. You do not have to weigh them but, MUST have them checked In Putnam County Fair Sheep & Goat Weigh-In/Check In June 3, :00 to 7:00 pm At the Putnam County Fairgrounds All Market Lambs that you wish to show at the Putnam County Fair in September MUST be brought in. You do not have to weigh them but, MUST have them checked In. Need a Loan for your 4-H or FFA Project contact the Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri they are offering agricultural loans for 4-H and FFA members in there market areas of Northern Missouri. Contact the bank or we have flyers available here at the PC Extension Office THE PC EXTENSION OFFICE HAS PROJECT INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS ON SWINE, SHEEP AND BEEF. WE ARE ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF ORDERING MORE. JUST LIKE A REGULAR LIBRARY YOU MAY COME IN AND CHECK THEM OUT. Scratch Cupcakery Fundraiser The Putnam County Extension Office will be having this fundraiser to help with costs associated with 4-H so we don t have to implement additional fees to our 4-H families, as other counties have done! Some counties in Missouri charge as much as $40 to the 4-H families as well as the $20 State Fee. We don t want to have to do that. Our Fundraiser sell dates are June 4-22 and delivery will be July 11 th. Watch your newsletter for more information.

If for some reason you cannot attend this training you can go online at the following website and be sure you have your computer hooked up to a printer so you can print the certificate at the end and bring it in for a signature. Who: 4-Hers from ages What: Learn life skills, experience campus living, elect your representatives for State Council, make friends, and have fun! When: May 30-June 1 Where: University of Missouri-Columbia For more details visit Register through 4HOnline through April 15 no late registration will be accepted so register NOW! Public Speaking Academy The 4-H Public Speaking Academy is preparing for its seventh year! Extension faculty, along with 4-H volunteers will provide educational workshops to help youth build their skills and comfort with public speaking. Participants will be guided through the basics and finer points of writing and delivering a speech. Youth will receive individual assistance. The camp is open to all youth years of age interested in learning more about public speaking. The Academy will be June 20-21, 2018 and registration is due May 17. Lodging will be provided on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. The cost is $100. 5 Making Kazoos What you need: Empty toilet paper rolls Rubber bands Wax paper Markers Gummed stars What you do: Show the children how to assemble their own kazoos by folding the wax paper several times so that it covers the end of the paper roll. Rubber band it in place. Encourage the children to decorate their kazoos with the markers and stars. Test the kazoos. Place the end of the roll lightly to your mouth and sing or hum. The vibration of the layers of wax paper should make your kazoos sound great!
