1 American Legion Legacy Run Route Plan Indianapolis to Houston, August 18-22, 2013 This plan is subject to change based on changing road conditions during the Run, or when directed by law enforcement or public safety officials. This plan is not intended to replace the road captain briefings given each morning and at other times during the Run. See your road captain for the latest information. Mileages given below are approximate distances based on mapping software and odometer readings from the pre-runs and may not exactly match your motorcycle odometer readings. Provided as references only. GAS TANK NOTES are a shortened version of the directions given for each leg for those who wish to write short navigational aids with grease pencil or marker on windshields, chrome, or other places for reference. Your own tank notes may be different than those suggested here.

2 Day 1 Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 (353 miles) LEG miles, about 1 hour, 50 minutes. Depart: 0800 (Post 64) To Greenup, Illinois (Exit 119) for first refueling. Location: Exit 119, Greenup, IL (Go-Joe s Supercenter and Marathon stations) Directions: From Post 64, take ramp onto I-70W, entering Illinois. Exit 119 for Greenup/Charleston at 114 miles, turn left on ramp onto IL-130 (N Haughton Hwy). Stations over bridge ahead. Roll past gas stations for right turn on Cumberland Street under direction of ground guides, right on N. Marietta, right on E. Pleasant street to loop around the block to the pumps. Casey s Gas Station. Trikes fuel across street at Marathon under direction of ground guides. GPS Destination: 110 N Haughton Hwy, Greenup, IL I-70W 114 miles. Exit 119, left on IL-130, right onto Cumberland St. Casey s. Arrival: 8:50 a.m. (Note time zone change.) Departure: 10:00 a.m. LEG miles, about 30 minutes. Depart: 10:00 a.m. To Effingham, Illinois (Exit 162) for lunch. Location: Effingham American Legion Post 120, 200 W. Washington Ave., Effingham, IL Directions: Return to IL-130N and turn left to merge onto I-70W for 22 miles, then merge onto I-57 (I-70W). Take Exit 162 and bear LEFT on US-45 S (N 3 rd St). 2 miles, turn RIGHT on Washington St., approx. 3 blocks to Post 120. Park on street as directed. GPS Destination: 200 W. Washington Ave, Effingham, IL I-70W/I-57 for 22 miles. Exit 162, left on N 3 rd St for 2 miles, right on Washington. Arrival: 10:30 a.m. Departure: 12:00 Noon.

3 LEG miles, about 1 hour 25 minutes. Depart: 12:00 Noon. To Troy, Illinois for refueling. Location: Gas stations near 536 Edwardsville Rd., Troy, IL Directions: Turn left from post onto N Banker St. Take right onto US-40/US- 45/West Fayette Ave (passing under bridge) for 1.6 miles. Take ramp on left onto I-70W. Continue to follow I-70W towards St. Louis, and then take Exit 18. Bear left onto IL-162 (Edwardsville Road) towards Troy. Follow guides for right turn onto Riggins Road and through parking lots to the pumps at Phillips 66. Trikes will follow guides across street and into ZX gas station. GPS Destination: near 536 Edwardsville Rd., Troy, IL Left on N Banker. Right onto W. Fayette Ave to I-70W. Stay on I-70W toward St. Louis, then Exit 18. Bear left onto Edwardsville Rd. Right on Riggins. 83 miles. Arrival: 1:25 p.m. Departure: 2:45 p.m. LEG miles, about 2 hours. Depart: 2:45 p.m. Location: Missouri Veterans Home, 620 N Jefferson St, St James, MO Directions: Return west along Edwardsville Rd to I-70W (ramp is over overpass and to left) for 9 miles. Take Exit 10 and I-255 towards Memphis for 39 miles (road name changes to I-270). At Exit 5B, take ramp onto I-44W/Tulsa. Continue 81 miles to Exit 195 (St James) and turn left onto North Jefferson Street. Veterans Home is on left just after overpass. GPS Destination: 620 N Jefferson St, St James, MO I-55S/I-70W to Exit 10 towards Memphis/I-270. Exit 5B ( I-44W to Tulsa). Exit 195, turn left. Arrival: 4:45 p.m.

4 Day 2 Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 (318 miles) Comfort Suites, 1650 Old Wire Outer Rd, Rolla, MO to Fairfield Inn & Suites- Muskogee, 1650 North 32d St, Muskogee, OK LEG miles, about 2 hours. Depart: 0800 (Post 397) To Kum&Go refueling and lunch at American Legion Post 639, Springfield, MO. Location: 4020 W Battlefield Rd, Springfield, MO Directions: Left from hotel to Ramp I-44W 102 miles to Springfield. Take Exit 82A (caution: very tight, slow ramp) onto US-65S towards Branson. After 8.6 miles take ramp right onto US-60 W/US-65 BUS/James River Freeway. After 7.9 miles exit right onto US-160W (MO-FF). Take first right onto Battlefield Rd and into Kum&Go station. (Optional: Trail groups and Trikes proceed to Conoco Station two blocks east of Kum&Go on Battlefield Drive.) To Post 639: Proceed east along Battlefield, past Conoco, turning left on S. Scenic Drive. Post is one mile north. GPS: Kum&Go: 4020 W Battlefield Rd, Springfield, MO Post 639: 2660 S Scenic Ave, Springfield, MO I-44W to Exit 82A to US-65S. Take US-60W/US-160W. Take right ramp to US-160N (MO-FF). Arrival: 10:00 a.m. for 1 hour refueling, 1 hour lunch at Post 639. Depart: 12:00 p.m.

5 LEG miles, about 2 hours 30 minutes Depart: 12:00 Noon To refueling at Big Cabin Truck Plaza Location: US-69S, Big Cabin, OK NOTE: Short tanks MUST refuel during lunch in Springfield. This leg is 135 miles from earlier refueling. Directions: Depart Post 639 south on Scenic Ave, right onto Battlefield Rd back to Kum&Go. Left on US-160 and immediate right to US-60W. Follow US-60W/US-69 into Oklahoma through Vinita, OK. 2 miles west of Vinita look for left turn on US- 69S. Proceed US-69S to Big Cabin Truck Plaza. GPS: Big Cabin Services Center, US-69S, Big Cabin, OK US60W to Vinita, Left onto US69S. 135 miles. Arrival: 2:30 p.m. Depart: 4:00 p.m. LEG miles, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Depart: 4:00 p.m. To Muskogee, OK. Location: Fairfield Inn&Suites Muskogee, 1650 North 32d St., Muskogee, OK Directions: South on I-69S. Road name changes to I-62 (US-69). At 57 miles, in Muskogee, turn left into large hotel/business parking area near Fairfield Inn. NOTE: Some staff/rc teams are in Holiday Inn Express to the east. GPS: 1650 North 32d St., Muskogee, OK I-69S to I-62S 57 miles. Arrival: 5:15 p.m. for overnight stop.

6 Day 3 Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 (358 miles) 1650 North 32d St., Muskogee, OK to Stephenville City Park, Stephenville, TX LEG miles, about 1 hour 45 minutes. Depart: 8:00 a.m. (from joint hotel/business parking lot near Fairfield Inn). To: Atoka, Oklahoma, Love s Travel Stop. Location: Love s Travel Stop, 1811 S. Mississippi Ave., Atoka, OK Directions: Turn left out of parking lot to go south on US-69S/US75S. At 110 miles, arrive at Love s Travel Stop. Follow guides into empty Sheffield furniture store just before reaching Love s. Marshal in Walmart lot next door. US-62S/US-69S 110 miles. GPS: 1811 S. Mississippi Ave., Atoka, OK Arrival: 9:45 a.m. Depart: 10:45 a.m. LEG miles, about 1 hour. Depart: 10:50 a.m. To Lunch at American Legion Post 231 in Pottsboro, Texas. Location: Post 231, 133 Army Ave., Pottsboro, TX Directions: US-69S/US75S. Entering Texas, road name changes to US-75. After 50 miles, Sherman, Texas, take Exit 70 for right turn onto FM 84/Texoma Dr. Continue 2 miles and make a left turn onto FM-406. Continue 4 miles and make a right turn on TX-289. Continue 4 miles and make a right onto Elks Blvd, bearing left onto Veteran s Blvd. Follow guides to 133 Army Avenue and parking. US-69S /US-75S to Exit 70. FM84 (2 miles), left onto FM 406 (4 miles), right onto TX-289 (4 miles). Right on Elks Blvd, bear left onto Veteran s Blvd. GPS: 133 Army Ave., Pottsboro, TX Arrival: 12:00 p.m. for 1 hour. Depart: 1:00 p.m.

7 LEG miles, about 50 minutes Depart: 1:00 p.m. To refueling in Gainesville, Texas. Location: Shell, FM 372/Corporate Drive, Gainesville, TX Directions: West on Army Ave following Veterans Blvd and Elks Blvd towards N State Highway 289/Spur 316. Turn left and continue to follow TX-289 for 14 miles to merge onto US-82W. Continue 82W towards Whitesboro/Gainesville for 25 miles. Turn slight right onto US82W/E Summit Ave, then turn right onto N Grand Avenue/FM 372 for 2 miles to truck stop. Veterans/Elks Blvds to left turn on TX289S. Merge onto US-82W to Gainesville. Right on FM372 (N Grand Ave.) GPS: Corporate Dr (FM 372), Gainesville, Texas Arrival: 1:50 p.m. for 1 hour 10 minutes. Depart: 3:00 p.m. LEG miles, about 2 hours 15 minutes Depart: 3:00 p.m. To refueling at Circle H Shell, Santo, TX 76472, and Chevron, U.S. 281, Santo, TX Location: East of Santo, Texas at intersection of US281 and I-20. Directions: Exit gas station onto I-35 Frontage Road heading south. Take ramp onto I-35S. Take Exit 498A to US-82W for 23 miles, then left onto TX-59S for 55 miles through Bowie to Jacksboro. Turn right in Jacksboro onto Belknap St, then left on Main St to US 281S. Continue to follow 281S to gas stop at I-20 interchange just south of New Salem. Circle H Shell Station. Trikes to Chevron. GPS: near U.S. 281, Santo, TX I-35S (1 mile) to EXIT 498A. US-82W (22 miles),tx-59 (57 miles). US-281 (47 miles). Arrival: 5:15 p.m. Depart: 6:30 p.m.

8 LEG miles, about 30 minutes. Depart: 6:30 p.m. To Stephenville, City Park, Stephenville, TX. Location: 378 W Long St., Stephenville, TX Directions: US-281S 27 miles to Stephenville. Ignore BUS377/State Loop 195 and take right (west) onto US-377 (E South Loop). Right turn onto S. Graham Ave (TX- 108). Turn left into park. Follow guides and park as group near pavilion. Sinner catered. Bikes released to hotels. GPS: near South Graham Ave., Stephenville, TX US-281S (27 miles), Right on US-377 (E South Loop), then right on TX-108 (S. Graham Ave.) Left into City Park. Arrival: 7:00 p.m. for end of day. Day 4 Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 (243 miles) LEG miles, about 1 hour, 30 minutes. Depart: 0800 To Lampasas, Texas, for refueling. Location: Fuel at Valero, 1402 S Key Ave., Lampasas, TX Directions: Turn right out of hotel service road to W South Loop. Turn right onto TX-108 (S. Graham Avenue), then merge right onto US-281S for 85 miles. US281

9 changes to South Key Avenue. VALERO station on left at Central Texas Expressway. Note: US281 bears to the right off of S Key Ave three blocks north of Valero. Stay on S. Key Ave to reach Valero. GPS Destination: 1402 S Key Ave., Lampasas, TX Right on South Loop (TX-377) Right onto TX108, then merge with US miles. Stay on S Key Ave for Valero. Arrival: 9:30 a.m. for refueling. Departure: 10:30 a.m. LEG miles, about 40 minutes. Depart: 10:30 a.m. To Killeen Civic Center, 3601 South W. S. Young Drive, Killeen, TX Location: Exxon, 1138 U.S. 281, Blanco, TX Directions: From Valero, turn left (East) along US-190E for 30 miles. Turn right onto South W S Young Drive. Civic Center 1 mile on right. GPS Destination: 3601 South W. S. Young Drive, Killeen, TX US190E 30 miles. Take S. W. Young Drive Exit. Right on S.W. Young Dr. Killeen Civic Center 1 mile on right. Arrival: 11:10 a.m. Departure: 1:00 p.m. LEG miles, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Depart: 1:00 p.m. To Marble Falls gas stop at Roadrunner Shell. Location: 2202 US281, Marble Falls, TX Directions: Left on W.S. Young Drive out of Civic Center and then left onto US- 190W for 30 miles toward Lampasas. Continue past previous Valero gas stop (street name changes to Plum St). Turn left onto US-281S. Roadrunner Shell is 32 miles and on the left. GPS Destination: 2202 US281, Marble Falls, TX Left (North) on W.S.Young (1 mile), Left onto US-190W (31 miles). In Lampasas, turn left onto US-281 (30 miles) to Shell on left.

10 Arrival: 2:15 p.m. Departure: 3:30 p.m. LEG miles, about 1 hour 45 minutes. Depart: 3:30 p.m. To American Legion Post 245, 618 E Kingsbury St., Seguin, Texas for evening event. Location: 618 E Kingsbury St., Seguin, Texas Directions: Turn left out of Shell onto US-281S (41 miles) towards Blanco. Just past Blanco, turn left onto FM 32E (23 miles) towards Canyon Dam and San Marcos. Turn right onto Ranch Road 12S (FM12) for 10 miles. Slight right onto Wonder World Dr for 2 miles, then cross I-35 and turn right onto TX- 123/Guadalupe St. Continue on TX-123 for 19 miles, bearing left to TX-123 bypass and under I-10 overpass into Seguin. Turn right on 90 (west) and E. Kingsbury St. Post 245 is on the right. GPS Destination: 618 E Kingsbury St., Seguin, Texas US-281S, left on FM32, right on FM12 to Wonder World Road. Across I-35 turn right on TX-123. Bear left to 123 Bypass. Across I-10, turn right onto TX90/ E. Kingsbury. Post on right. Arrival: 5:15 p.m. Riders will be released to the hotels from the post. From the post, turn left and return east on E. Kingsbury to TX123 N Bypass. Turn left (north) to the hotels (3 miles).

11 Day 5 Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 (236 miles) LEG miles, about 2 hours, 30 minutes. Depart: 0800 (from Jay Road, a service road adjacent to the hotels on TX-123) To Buckee s, U.S. 59, Wharton, Texas for first refueling. Location: Buc-ee s, U.S. 59, Wharton, Texas Directions: From hotel, move onto I-10E. At 86 miles, Exit 696 to TX-71E towards El Campo. Continue south/east on TX-71E to El Campo (38 miles), then follow US- 59BUS and US-59N to Wharton, TX (13 miles). Exit at Farm to Market 102N (FM102N) to destination. Buc-ee s is a very large gas station/restaurant/store in grand Texas style. GPS Destination: U.S. 59, Wharton, Texas I-10E (86 miles), Exit 696 to TX71E/S to El Campo (38 miles). Left onto US- 59BUS (Jackson St.) Follow 59N (13 miles) to FM 102N and Buck-ee s. Arrival: 10:30 a.m. Departure: 12:30 p.m. (time for shopping, refueling and lunch at Buc-ee s). NOTE: This is a long morning leg before the heat hits later in the afternoon. For bikes with short tanks, suggest stopping at Buc-ee s in El Campo as we pass, then rejoining in Wharton 11 miles later. LEG miles, about 2 hours, 30 minutes. Depart: 12:30 p.m. To American Legion Post 554, 1650 Hwy 3 South, League City, Texas Location: 1650 Hwy 3 South, League City, Texas Directions: From Buckee s, continue east on Ogden Street (FM102S) under bridge towards Wharton. Turn right onto N. Richmond Road and follow signs for TX- 60S/E towards Bay City (25 miles). Turn left onto TX-35N in Bay City. Continue 60 miles to Alvin, TX, and turn right onto FM517E (Dickinson Road) for 11 miles towards Dickenson, TX (do not enter I-45 go under the overpass.) Turn left at TX-3 (Hwy 3 N). Post 554 is 2.6 miles on right. GPS Destination: 1650 Hwy 3 South, League City, Texas East on Ogden St. Right right N. Richmond. TX60S to Bay City (25 miles). Left on TX-35E to Alvin, TX (60 miles). Right on FM-517 (11 miles), left on TX Hwy 3 N (3 miles)
