The weather cooperated and we had an enjoyable day. Feed-back indicates that the adults and kids had a good time. A HUGE thank-you to all those who volunteered to help, as with all club events, it doesn t happen without you. Thanks also to the members who attended. The 10th was another great Steak Night. If you haven t been coming down, you re missing out on a chance to enjoy the view, the bar, your fellow members and guests. This event is an easy way for members to support the club and have a good time. If you don t feel comfortable grilling, bring someone along who does! As you know, MYC is hosting this years Inter-club party August 11th. We have been holding regular meetings to get ready, and I can t thank the volunteers enough for the time and effort they are putting into By the time you get this, a decision will have been made concerning the work that should be done to the East wall of the White Swan Room. We need to keep on top of all maintenance and repair issues involving the building and equipment. The house and grounds chairmen, along with our bar manager, Maureen, are proactive when it comes to the club. Regarding Maureen, she puts a lot of extra time and effort into her job, when you see her, say THANKS. There will be seats open on the Board of Directors soon. Think about adding your input and time to how the club is run. Don t sit back and let others do the work then complain about how things are done! 2 Page 2 Committee News House Committee Jim Kocian, Chairman Thanks to Brian Muench, Dick Metzger and Dave Johnson for their help with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters event held here at the MYC. Some Friday night reminders: Please go to your table when called and when fi nished dining leave your table within a reasonable time so others can be called in. Remember only the Club member can use the key to get into the club. No hats allowed in the dining room. An Appleton Yacht Club member sent me this letter.. Just a short note to tell you again how much Claudia & I enjoy our visits to your club. Good food and tasty drinks are served by a delightful staff. Lots of friendly people to chat with us. We ll see you again..and again! By the way, do come see our nicely upgraded club here in Appleton. I know you and others from your club will enjoy it. Warm Regards, Claudia & Rick Rapson. Good news, our Friday night dining numbers are looking good. As of July 20th we are averaging 120 diners. With the rise in attendance the dining wait may be longer. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Four ships to visit Milwaukee Associated Press MILWAUKEE Four ships from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Canadian navy are set to visit Milwaukee next week. It s part of the Navy s commemoration of the bicentennial of the War of The ships are the frigate USS DeWert, the coastal patrol ship Hurricane, the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Neah Bay and the Canadian frigate HMCS Ville de Qubec. DeWert and the Canadian ship will be at the Port of Milwaukee Liquid Pier 5 and Neah Bay and Hurricane will be at the Discovery World Pier. They will be in Milwaukee from Aug. 8 through Aug. 14. The event is also part of Navy Week, a U.S. Navy event that takes place annually in selected cities across America.

7 Sailor s Page Olympic Sailing Regatta Takes Place July 29-August 11 Page 7 Sixteen athletes will represent the United States across 10 Olympic events. As the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has designated these Games the social Games, US Sailing is encouraging every American sailor to get behind the Team and cheer them to victory whether on social media, directly by or simply by following along with their journey online. The primary portal for all Team activity and news is the website where the day s news and results will be posted following competition, along with a photo gallery, video and audio interviews and Team Leader Dean Brenner s special behind-the-scenes At the Helm blog.
