8 SMARTAP WATER QUALITY MONITOR WaterGrup s Series Reverse Osmsis Systems incrprate a prven perfrmance indicatr. Our patented Smartap Water Quality Mnitr uses dual prbe LOGIC PULSE MEMORY technlgy t accurately indicate membrane perfrmance. A splitsecnd pwer pulse cmpares feed water Ttal Disslved Slids (TDS) level with that f the prduct water. Then, by reversing the plarity f the electrnic pulse, the prbes are cleaned and kept free f chemical plating. A nine-vlt alkaline battery prvides pwer t the Mnitr. Fr ptimum mnitr perfrmance, the battery shuld be replaced each time system is sanitized. NOTE: Mnitr Trubleshting Indicatrs and Cmmn Slutins are shwn in Table 5 n Page 13. Push Buttn Actuated Smartap Series Pressing a test buttn lcated n the manifld cver activates mnitr. When buttn is pressed, and mmentarily held dwn, mnitr reprts membrane status by illuminating a light lcated next t test buttn. A green light means system is perating nrmally. A yellw light indicates system needs servicing (membrane may be depleted r fuled). While the buttn may be pressed at any time, the mst accurate readings are btained when the system is making water fr at least 10 minutes. INTER-COMPONENT CONNECTIONS Cnnectins between cld water supply line, RO Mdule, strage tank, prduct water faucet, and drain line are accmplished using plastic tubing and push-tgether quick-cnnect type fittings. PLASTIC TUBING 1. Cut tube ends square and straight. D nt defrm tube (i.e., cause tube t cmpress its diameter s it is n lnger rund). 2. Make sure uter surface f tube is clear f marks r scratches fr a length equal t twice tube diameter. This allws "O" ring t seat prperly against tube. 3. Avid sharp changes in directin when ruting tubing. Sharp turns cause tubing t flex and defrm, which reduces its flw capacity and may increase lateral stress n the fittings, causing leakage. QUICK-CONNECT FITTINGS Fittings cnsist f tw parts: a Bdy and a clred cllet and symbl. Cllet clr and symbl crrespnds t tubing t be used at that cnnectin (Figure 2.A.). 1. T install a tube, push it thrugh Cllet until it seats firmly at bttm f fitting (Figure 2.A and 2.B.). 2. T remve a tube, push and hld Cllet against Bdy while pulling tube ut (Figure 2.C.). A. Push tube thrugh Cllet int Bdy. B. Tube must seat firmly at bttm f fitting. C. Push Cllet against Bdy t release tube. Figure 2: Hw t Use Quick-Cnnect Fittings 2
