4 UAA Coaching Saff Head Coach Trond Flagsad Trond Flagsad begins his eighh season overall wih he Universiy of Alaska Anchorage ski eam and his fifh as he head coach for he Seawolf ski program in UAA skiers have earned a combined 20 All- America accolades since Flagsad became head coach in 2005, and 39 overall since he joined he Seawolf coaching saff in During his enure UAA has recorded a pair of sixh-place finishes a NCAAs and has earned wo individual Naional iles. The Seawolf Nordic eam has flourished under Flagsad s leadership he las hree seasons, esablishing iself as one of he op Nordic programs in he naion. UAA Nordic skiers have posed eigh op-10 finishes a Naionals he las hree seasons combined. ASSisan NORDIC Coach Mandy Kaempf Former All-American skier and NCAA Champion Mandy Kaempf is in her hird season as an assisan wih he Seawolf Nordic eam in The mos decoraed suden-ahlee o ever compee a UAA, Kaempf was a hree-spor sar wih he Seawolves, earning wo NCAA iles and five All-American honors in skiing, a conference ile and All-American honors in rack & field and four all-conference and wo all-region accolades in cross counry running. Kaempf, who claimed NCAA iles in boh Nordic disciplines in 2005, is he only UAA skier o earn muliple naional iles. The naive of Seinbach-Hallenberg, Germany, graduaed from UAA in 2006 wih a bachelor s of science degree in sociology and a bachelor s of ars in hisory. ALpine Coach Sparky Anderson Sparky Anderson begins his second seasons as he Seawolves Alpine coach. Before UAA, Anderson worked as he program direcor for he Alyeska Ski Club in Girdwood for seven years. Anderson coached he Seawolf Alpine squad in 2002, when UAA s Aurore de Maulmon won he NCAA ile in he gian slalom. Prior o coming o Alaska, he was he head ski coach a Brown Universiy in Rhode Island from A 1991 graduae of he Universiy of Nevada, Anderson earned four leers wih he Wolf Pack, serving as eam capain his senior season. Afer college, he moved o Garmisch- Parenkirchen, Germany, where he augh skiing for he Flori Woerndle Ski School. A year away from ski racing proved o be oo much, and Anderson moved o Innsbruck, Ausria, where he spen wo years coaching a small FIS eam a he Innsbruck Inernaional School. Afer leaving Europe, he moved o New England and spen wo years coaching he Easern Cup eam a he Holderness School. In addiion o his inernaional experience, he holds USSA s highes level of coach s cerificaion and currenly serves as he Alaska Division s USSA coaches educaion clinician. Over he years, he has been invied o coach a muliple naional and regional evens. Anderson grew up in Norhern California and raced ou of Bear Valley. He now resides in Girdwood wih his wife Diana and daugher Kéa. ASSisan APLINE Coach Julie-Pierre Leclerc Three-ime NCAA qualifier Julie-Pierre Leclerc joins he Seawolf coaching saff in 2009 as he new graduae assisan coach for he Alpine program. Leclerc was a four-year leerwinner a UAA, posing he bes women s Alpine finishes for UAA during he 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons.
