The addiion of T-Ball allows WABL o coninue o grow and begin o reach a younger group of boys and girls. T-Ball paricipans ages five, six, and seven years old (as of July 1, 2010) will be insruced on he basic skills of T-Ball and will play every game. The T-Ball season will run from Monday, June 21, 2010 o Thursday, Augus 5, Each eam will be scheduled o play eigh games. Every paricipan will receive a ha, -shir, and an award a he end of he year. You can sign up your child o play games on Monday and Wednesday evenings or on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. 5 2009 V.P. of BOYS Baseball Repor Anoher WABL season has come and gone and i won be long before we are signing up our kids again for anoher fun-filled season. The 2010 season promises o be unlike any oher in he hisory of our league, as we are assuming some new responsibiliies: Firs of all, we will ake over he Ciy of Akron s T-Ball program a Norhwes Recreaion Cener. This is very exciing news for WABL, because i s his age group where children ge heir firs ase of organized baseball, and here s nohing more rewarding han seeing a child grow wihin an organizaion from he very beginning. Second, we are eaming up wih Falcon Baseball o field muliple ravel eams hroughou he season. These eams will ulimaely be more compeiive han our usual WABL leagues -- bu we, as an organizaion, fel ha i was imporan o offer his learning experience o our beer players, allowing heir growh while mainaining he overall recreaional focus of WABL. More informaion on his maer will be forhcoming. Finally, I would like o ake his opporuniy o invie anyone who is ineresed o consider joining he WABL Board. There are varying levels of commimen wihin he Board, and no one is asked o do more han hey are willing o do. Wha we need more han anyhing is more poins of view, which can only make our organizaion sronger and healhier. On ha noe, I hope you all had a grea off-season and I m looking forward o seeing you all during he 2010 season. - James Daniels, Vice Presiden - Baseball 2009 H-LEAGUE REPORT WABL s 2009 H-League was composed of en eams, in wo Divisions: The Bob Feller Division included he A s (Dies Elecric), managed by Mike Dies; he Indians (Warner Mendenhall), managed by Augie Micozzi; he Orioles (Clear Sho Spors Phoography), managed by Gary Kincaid; he Piraes (Play i Again Spors), managed by Jusin Herideen; and he Reds (Judge Beh Whimore), managed by Chris Huchinson. The Rocky Colavio Division included he Aeros (All Packaging Services), managed by Jim Weber; he Cardinals (Swenson s), managed by Jamie Donohue; he Cubs (CP & Sons Landscaping), managed by Chris Pfeiffer; he Phillies (Jim Laria Clerk of Cours), managed by Ma Beaven; and he Yankees (Judge Allison McCary), managed by Mark Fields. Players a his age really undersand he game beer and sar making beer decisions as far as sealing bases, hiing good piches, and concenraing on he basic fundamenals of baseball. We had nearly 100 players in 2009 G-League, a growh which allowed us o field nine eams. Unforunaely, aemps o reschedule he game for laer in he day were unsuccessful, and so he Cardinals and Aeros were named Co-Champions of G-League for he 2009 season. 6 2009 marked he firs year of WABL s affiliaion wih he Communiy Baseball League, or CBL. WABL sponsored wo eams in F-League, he Aeros managed by Henry Payden (Andy s Trophies and Awards, sponsor), and he Indians Managed by Ma Miller (Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey, sponsor). In addiion o our WABL eams, communiies such as Revere, Highland, Copley and Noron compeed in he CBL. Our eams play boh home and away games wih all oher eams in he WABL had a successful summer campaign in E/EE League ravel baseball during he summer of 2009 as he Wes Akron Falcons. The success of he eams is demonsraed by he fac ha he Wes Akron Communiy suppored five ravel eams in hese age brackes combined wih he former Wes Akron ravel baseball organizaion, he Ohio Bucs. WABL suied up hree eams in he U18, U16, and U15 age brackes wih paricipaing players represening area high schools. These included Firesone, Buchel, Hoban, S.V-M, Copley, and Barberon. The eams paricipaed in he Sark Summi Baseball Leagues a he high school level, and also paricipaed in wo open division ournamens. In 2010, he E/EE eams will again suppor hree ravel eams and possibly one communiy eam. The ravel eams will now be a combinaion of players from he former Bucs organizaion and he former Falcons, and will now be named he Wes Akron A s. The A s are expeced o paricipae in he SSBL, as well as he Cuyahoga Valley Baseball League, and paricipae in wo open division ournamens. The Communiy Team, if he need is here, will paricipae in he Copley Ahleic Associaion Communiy Baseball League. The 2009 season was anoher successful one for WABL s I-League, hanks o our sponsors and o he ime and effor of he coaches, players, and parens involved. Your dedicaion is mos appreciaed! We sared 2009 wih some new coaches, los of bad weaher, and many firs-ime players And we found ha once again, wih good communicaion and a lile help from he friends and parens of WABL, we laid a srong foundaion for our kids and when no rained (or snowed) ou, we had a grea ime. The players in I-League are as varied as can be: boys and girls ages 6-8, some of whom are new o baseball and some of whom hink hey re ready for he majors! The coaches in our league do a grea job of bringing his all ogeher in a fun environmen ha mixes basic baseball fundamenals wih eam awareness. Our season his year ended wih a series of games jus for he 8-year-olds moving up o H-league nex year, in which hey played real baseball rules wih players piching, srike couns, ous and scores. We ve seen ha his pos-season helps he players develop for he nex sep, and we re going o make i a regular par of he I-League schedule. I d like o especially hank Todd Kaminski and he oher coaches ha ook he exra ime o make his a good experience for hese players.
