2 1 President s Message Ski Boler ~ The New Era Begins! Welcome to Boler Mountain. Thank you to the people of London and surrounding communities, participating corporations, private and public institutions, and our many dedicated volunteers, staff and friends who are making our Reaching New Heights Capital Campaign a success. We are very pleased to announce the opening of our new Operations Centre later this fall. This centre will be the cornerstone for our present operation and upcoming West Hill expansion, due for completion in the next few years. This new energy efficient, state of the art centre will feature a new computer controlled snowmaking system. Yes, we now have computer snow! This fully automated snowmaking system will speed up our ability to manufacture snow for our trails and parks. This new centre will also provide a garage for our Snow Cat fleet, a repair and maintenance area, and an electrical distribution and motor control centre. One of the reasons I am so passionate about the London Ski Club is that it provides a safe, exciting and inclusive place for everyone. Our partners, Ski Patrol, London Ski Club Racing and London Track 3 Ski School are all volunteer- based. Their countless hours of hard work and dedication truly make our facility inclusive for the whole family. Volunteering for these programs is a great way to get involved with the community. We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join our team. If you are interested in learning more about becoming certified as a Ski Patroller, a Track 3 Ski School Instructor or Ski/Snowboard Instructor, I encourage you to speak with our Management team who would be happy to answer any of your questions. Any child on a family membership must be a student attending a full-time day school, college or university and carry a student card. 2. The London Ski Club reserves the right to remove a season pass or lift ticket at their discretion. 4. Each season pass holder is required to sign a RELEASE OF LIABILITY form before picking up their pass. 5. A $20.00 charge will be made for replacement of lost passes. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when replacing a lost pass. 6. Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable. 7. Season passes must be worn and visible at all times while at the ski area. Lift ticket will not be issued for a forgotten pass. 8. The management reserves the right to close the area at any time it deems it unsafe to the public. 9. All rates are subject to change without notice. 10. Season Passes include a $20 improvement fee per person; day tickets include a $1.00 improvement fee for the new West Hill expansion. 11. This pass is valid for unlimited skiing and snowboarding from 6 pm Sundays until 10 pm Thursdays. The cost is $270 if purchased before October 26/08 or $295 after October 26/08. Multi-use Ticket Booklets Now Better Than Ever Two options to choose from. Personal Ticket Booklets Purchase five, 4-hour lift tickets for $ adults, $92 juniors 12 and under. When: Friday, July 17, 2009 Facility Rental The London Ski Club is available for special events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays or other celebrations. The chalet is fully air-conditioned in the summer months and can be rented from April through October. We have a full kitchen facility and a selection of caterers to meet your needs. 9 15 Track 3 Reaching New Heights 16 London Track 3 Ski School A part of the Boler Mountain experience since the mid 1980 s, the London Track 3 Ski School provides a ski training program for individuals that are physically or developmentally challenged. Last year our 180 volunteers provided ski instruction to 119 students. Our program ensures that our students have the opportunity to enjoy this winter activity in a manner that is safe and fun while at the same time demanding of their physical abilities. Visit our website for special events and fundraising. We are also proudly affiliated with Special Olympics London and offer an associated ski racing program for eligible athletes. Instructor/Student Registrar: Eric Thomson West Hill Expansion With a great season of snowy weather in 2007/08 our Columbia chair quickly filled with family, corporate,foundation and individual names. These chair sponsorships are all part of the West Hill expansion Capital Campaign. The new snowmaking centre scheduled to be up and running this season is a result of the generous contributions made by those in our community thus far. Our goal this year is to continue to add names to the chair backs on Chair 2 and to seek philanthropic support from others in our community. The 120 acres of property offers some of the best cross country terrain in Ontario, offering a 2 km beginner, 5km intermediate, and 9 km expert loop. As a condition of use of the ski area facilities, the Ticket Holder assumes all risk of personal injury, death or property loss resulting from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to the risks, dangers and hazards of skiing, snowboarding and other recreational activities, the use of ski lifts, collision with natural or man-made objects or with skiers, snowboarders or other persons, travel within or beyond the ski area boundaries, or negligence, breach of contract, or breach of statutory duty of care on the part of the ski area operator and its employees, agents, representatives and sponsors (hereinafter collectively referred to as the ski area operator ). The Ticket Holder agrees that the ski area operator shall not be liable for any such personal injury, death or property loss and releases the ski area operator and waives all claims with respect thereto. The Ticket Holder agrees that any litigation involving the ski area operator shall be brought solely within the Province of Ontario and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Province of Ontario. The Ticket Holder further agrees that these conditions and any rights, duties and obligations as between the ski area operator and the Ticket Holder shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and no other jurisdiction. Always stay in control. You must be able to stop, or avoid other people or objects. 2. People ahead of you have the right-of-way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. 3. Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above. 4. Before starting downhill or merging onto a trail, look uphill and yield to others. 5. If you are involved in or witness a collision or accident, you must remain at the scene and identify yourself to the Ski Patrol. 6. Always use proper devices to help prevent runaway equipment. 7. Observe and obey all posted signs and warnings. 8. Keep off closed trails and closed areas. 9. You must not use lifts or terrain if your ability is impaired through use of alcohol or drugs. 10. You must have sufficient physical dexterity, ability and knowledge to safely load, ride and unload lifts. If in doubt, ask the lift attendant.
