3 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Hi everyone & welcome to the New Year. I hope you had a great holiday season, culminating with a very happy New Year s celebration. To be sure, 2018 was a great year for our club. We ve had over 70 events in addition to our Sunday breakfasts and monthly general meetings. I would like to acknowledge and thank the following individuals for arranging and leading at least one event over the past year. Bonnie Michilak Carol Stanec Chris Luhrs Darrell Ahlberg Debby Roger Dennis Dembiec JoAnne Mok Joe Yoblonski John Zalewski June Siehda Ken Phillips Les Skrzycki Marie Weiner Sharon Rose Shirley Tresh Stan Sawicki Stu Saxalby Tim & Jan Phannes At the GM Ski Club, we pride ourselves in being an active, eclectic social club. In addition to our namesake skiing events, we host parties and outdoor events for all seasons. We would like to expand this line up going into the coming year. All we need is ideas and leaders. If you would like to lead an event, please let us know. And alongside enjoying the events, it is just as important to record and capture them with photos. At the GMSC Holiday Party at my house this year, I put together a slideshow of past GMSC events. Many of the events depicted occurred in years past. I would have loved a better representation of 2018 events, but we were woefully short of pictures. Everyone attending an event is encouraged to take pictures and forward them to any member of the board. They are used for the newsletter, for the website, and for special items such as the slideshow to be shown at special events. While I m talking about pictures, I d like to give a special shout-out to Tom Scott who makes it his mission to document the events he attends with a rich collection of photos. So Tom, thanks for your work and diligence in this area. So that s it for now. So let s get on with another great year. 6 Holiday Party I d like to give a special shout out to each and every person who attended the GMSC Holiday Party this year. Last count, about 70 of you attended which I believe is a record. It s always a lot of fun to see everyone come dressed so festively and have such a good time. Thanks to everyone who brought a dish-to-pass. I m sure the quality of this year s food also set a record. Although I don t know how to measure that, I can say whatever was brought was gratefully consumed as there was very little left over. Lastly, I want to thank the people who stayed late and helped with the clean up. I know who most of you are and would love to give a shout by name, but I m sure I ll miss somebody. But I m sure you know who you are, so once again, my deepest appreciation. For those who missed it, I hope to see you next year. I m already working with some creative people about ways to kick it up a notch. So you won t want to miss it. If you have something you d like to add, I d love to hear from you as well. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I m looking forward to a great Darrell Ahlberg
