1 2018 ARPA State Swimming & Diving Championships July 26 thru 28, 2018 HOSTED BY: The City Of Birmingham LOCATION: Birmingham Crossplex, 2337 Bessemer Rd, Birmingham AL, Crossplex Website Pool Location Google Maps FACILITIES: POOL - Indoor 25-yard course, offering 10 lanes for short course competition. Pool depth ranging from 7 feet and 1 inch at the shallowest to 13 and half feet at the deep end. Indoor 25-yard pool, offering 10 lanes for general warmup during the meet. Automatic timing will be provided by Colorado Timing System with HYTEK interface on the course. Manual back up will be used. A 10-lane scoreboard will be available. SPECTATORS: CONCESSIONS: HOSPITALITY: COACHES: The Bill Harris Arena and additional adjacent common area will be available for swimmers and spectators. NO CHAIRS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK OR THE COMMON AREA. There will be multiple concession areas provided as no outside food is allowed. There will be a hospitality room available for coaches, officials and volunteers only. A coaches meeting will be held at the following times: Coaches meeting for Diving will be on the pool deck at 9:00 am. Coaches meeting for Swimming will in the upstairs meeting room at 8:00 am on both days RULES: 2018 ARPA Swimming rules will govern the meet. OFFICIALS: Meet Director: Robby Dellinger robert.dellinger@ci.birmingham.al.us Meet Referee: Tiffany Myrick tiffany.m.myrick@gmail.com Note: Visiting officials are welcome and encouraged to assist. Please contact Tiffany Myrick if you are interested in working. Officials Meetings will be held prior to the start of each session. ELIGIBILITY: All swimmers must be ARPA Swimming registered. Coaches and officials must show certification as required by ARPA Swimming.

2 SAFETY: WARM UP: In the interest of safety and accident prevention, coaches and swimmers are asked to observe all posted pool rules and to conduct themselves in a safe manner. Only meet workers, coaches officials and swimmers will be allowed on the pool deck. Coaches are asked to help control the crowded pool deck by making sure all swimmers that are not at Clerk of Course stay in the spectator area. ARPA Meet Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures will be in effect at this meet. The meet director will post and announce the warm-up assignments prior to the start of the meet warm-up on the Crossplex website. Racing Dives will only be allowed during the last 10 minutes of each warm-up session with swimming allowed in one direction away from blocks. Swimmers attending the meet without a coach must report to the Meet Director or Referee to be assigned a coach for warm up prior to each session. STARTING TIMES: Firday; July 27, 2018: Session 1 Warm-up: 7:45 AM 9:45 AM Session 1 Competition: 10:00 AM Session 2 Warm-up: Follows the conclusion of the morning session Session 2 Competition: Sunday; January 24, 2016: Session 3 Warm-up: 7:45 AM 9:45 AM Session 3 Competition: 10:00 AM Session 4 Warm-up: Follows the conclusion of the morning session Session 4 Competition: ENTRY FEES: NOTE: $4.00 per individual swimming or diving event $8.00 per relay event $2.00 ARPA surcharge per individual swimmer/diver All entry fees are non-refundable. Late entries will not be accepted unless protest committee allows it. ENTRIES: Per ARPA rules Swimmers may enter a maximum of 3 individual events and 2 relays. Divers may enter a maximum of 2 individual events. If due to meet error, the swimmer will be deck-entered into an open lane of the heat nearest his/her entry time or in a new heat. The entire event WILL NOT be reseeded. District hosts are urged to submit swimmer entries using HY-TEK s Team Manager or Meet Manager software. All relays must include names; changes will be accepted on deck the morning of the respective relays. A hard copy of entries with the event numbers and event description must be included in the entry packet. Teams without Hy-tek software must use enclosed entry forms. District roster file should also be ed along with the Hy-tek entry file to facilitate relay name changes during the meet.

3 ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries (electronic or hard copy) and supporting paperwork must be received by the Meet Director by Tuesday, July 17th at 12 p.m. Packet must include: Entry fee made out to City of Birmingham Entry Fee form (D-1) Team Rosters (signed by Park and Rec Director) District meet results PDF Entries by event (HyTek) Liability waivers Mail entry packet to: Meet Director, ARPA Swim and Dive Meet Birmingham Crossplex 2337 Bessemer Rd Birmingham AL, MEET FORMAT: SCRATCHES: This is a timed finals meet. All events will be pre-seeded. All scratches should be submitted to the Clerk of Course as soon as possible before or during the scratch meeting. There will be no lane changes due to scratches. There will be no adding swimmers to the meet unless approved by the sports rec committee. A scratch meeting will be held on both days in the upstairs meeting immediately following the Coaches meeting. AWARDS: All awards will be based on ARPA rules defined in the 2018 Sports Rec manual. SPECIAL NOTE: VOLUNTEERS: PARKING: Should there be any question; MEET OFFICIALS will recognize ONLY coaches. Volunteer Sign up for non-officials $5.00 per day onsite parking is available. SWIMMING VENDOR: Tournament t-shirts and additional tournament items will be available for purchase
