The two sides tied their first meeting, 0-0, at Highmark Stadium on Aug. 18. With a 2-0 win against Penn FC, the Hounds are fresh off a Keystone Derby Cup-clinching victory, as well as earning their first playoff berth since 2015 and ninth all-time trip to the postseason. Next up for the Hounds is clinching a home playoff game. The club has never hosted a playoff match at Highmark Stadium before. The last time Pittsburgh hosted a playoff match occurred in 2006 a 4-0 semifinals loss against the Charlotte Eagles at Falconi Field. Pittsburgh can clinch a home playoff game with a win and/ or an Indy Eleven tie or loss this Saturday. Indy Eleven will clash with first-place FC Cincinnati this weekend. In addition to clinching a home playoff game, the Hounds also control their own destiny in terms of wrapping up the No. 2 seed in the conference. Two points up on second-place Louisville City FC, the Hounds have the same number of games left as Louisville. The Hounds have never defeated Charlotte before. The team is all-time against the Independence, including a road mark. Kay Banjo and Andrew Lubahn became the 14th and 15th different Hounds to notch a goal this season during their 2-0 victory against Penn FC on Wednesday. The last time 15 different Hounds scored a goal in a single season occurred during the 2014 campaign. Neco Brett also posted his sixth assist of the season on Wednesday. He becomes the fifth player in club history to register at least 10 goals and six assists in a single season (Thiago Martins, Rob Vincent, David Flavius and Kevin Kerr). The Hounds are fresh off their USL-leading 16th clean sheet. Their shut out of Penn FC marked their first clean sheet in seven games. Before the Penn FC match on Wednesday, the last time Pittsburgh blanked a team came against the very same Independence team it will face on Saturday. Mouhamed Dabo is the only Hound to have played every minute of the team s last 12 matches. The last time the holding midfielder did not log a full-90 came against the Charleston Battery on July 21. In addition to retaining the Derby Cup for a second consecutive year, the Hounds also clinched playoff berth for the first time since the 2015 campaign. The goal that catapulted the Black and Gold into the postseason came off the left foot of Kay Banjo in the 38th minute. Andrew Lubahn later added an insurance goal in second-half stoppage time.
