Saturday s tilt is the first of three meetings between the two clubs this season and the only in Rochester. With a point or better this weekend, the Hounds will have captured points in three straight road matches for the first time since the end of the 2015 season - a stretch then running from Aug. 29 to Sept. 19. Both members of the Old Guard Shield in the USL, the Rhinos have been a House of Horrors opponent for the Hounds since they began play in All-time, the Rhinos hold a head-to-head advantage, including since 2011 in the current era of the USL. The last time Pittsburgh captured a victory against the Rhinos? A 2-0 shutout at home on July 4, The 2014 season was also the only time the Hounds have won in Rochester in the current USL era - a 3-2 victory on June 7. Overall, 10 of the 12 losses since 2011 against Rochester have been clean sheets, while the Hounds have scored goals in only two of their past nine tilts visiting. Saturday s match expects to be a slugfest with both clubs boasting strong defensive units. The Rhinos rank tied for second in the league in shots on goal faced per game at 3.3 with the Hounds not far behind at four. Additionally, the Hounds enter the match with six clean sheets on the year including two in their past four games, while Rochester is tied for first in the league with seven thanks to another strong season from 2016 Golden Gloves winner Tomas Gomez. Hounds keeper Keasel Broome is also certainly worth keeping an eye on. Since taking over for injured Trey Mitchell on June 22, Broome has been a brick wall, going unbeaten in three starts (1-0-2). He s faced 10 shots, turning away all but one - a penalty - and recorded two clean sheets. Despite slotting in at 11th in the league in shots, the Hounds have scored multiple goals only on three occasions this season. Some of that may be a symptom to the team s lack of shots on goal, as only 75 of their 211 recorded shots have been marked on frame. This conversion rate of 35.5 percent ranks 24th in the league overall and above Harrisburg (34.2), Saint Louis (29.7), Toronto (29.2) and Richmond (26.2) in the East. Saturday s match is the second of a brutal four-game stretch against opponents with a winning record.
