STEEL FC GOING GOLD When Bethlehem Steel FC return to Goodman Stadium on Saturday, September 9, to host USL-newcomer Tampa Bay Rowdies, more than soccer will be in the spotlight. This morning, the club has announced that Steel FC has teamed up with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley with numerous ways fans can support the effort. For the match, Steel FC will wear special gold warmups prior to kickoff and gold armbands for the entirety of the match. During the match, fans will be able to bid on the warmups and armbands through a silent auction held on the concourse. All auctioned items will be signed by the players following the match. The auction will begin when the gates open at 4 p.m. and run until the 70th minute of play. All payments must take place at the match with fans able to pay with cash or credit cards. Steel FC will also honor those who lost their fight to pediatric cancer while celebrating those who are fighting cancer. The club will be escorted onto the field with children from PCFLV and those participants will compete in the halftime mini games at Goodman Stadium. The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley is dedicated to supporting quality-of-life for children diagnosed with cancer in the greater Lehigh Valley and their families, as well as long-term survivorship and bereavement programs. All of the programming and events are offered at no cost to these families. The Foundation believes that a pediatric cancer diagnosis affects the WHOLE family, and their mission reflects that belief. They also believe that a family s experience with childhood cancer does not end when treatment ends. Because of that, PCFLV follows a continuum of care model, hoping to be a friend to families from the date their child is diagnosed forever forward.
