The club is still in the midst of its best start in club history, posting a nine-game unbeaten streak to start the season in league play. Saturday s match marks the second of three meetings between the two sides this season, as the Hounds continue their defense of the Keystone Derby Cup. Drawing nil-nil in the first meeting, the result ensured the fourth straight season the winner of the Keystone Derby will be decided in the final meeting of the year, which comes in Harrisburg on Sept. 26. Pittsburgh has currently shut out Penn FC in four straight matches (2-0-2). The club is tied for the league lead in both clean sheets (6) and goals allowed (5). Penn FC has also been near as stout on the defensive end with only seven tallies conceded and four shutouts. Despite dropping their first match of the season in the Third Round of the Open Cup this past Wednesday, the Hounds have been stellar at home so far in league play, holding a record and having yet to concede a goal. A win on Saturday would push the club s all-time record on the Mon over.500 ( ). Though early, a winning record at home in 2018 would also portend well to postseason hopes, as the Hounds have made the playoffs in each season (3x) they ve held a positive mark in the current era of the USL (since 2011). The Pittsburgh attacking midfield has been at the center of its offensive output this season. Kevin Kerr (19), Christiano François (11) and Kenardo Forbes (9) rank first, second and third in chances created, respectively. The trio also has combined for five of the team s nine assists this year. Forward Romeo Parkes is coming off USL Team of the Week honors after his one goal, three shot performance against the Tampa Bay Rowdies last time out. Last season, the striker also tallied a goal and an assist against Penn FC in the Hounds Derby Cup-clinching match and had three shots in the first meeting this year. On an interesting note for the opposition, Penn FC newcomers Lucky Mkosana and Tommy Heinemann have had past scoring success against the Hounds, with both having notched three career tallies against Pittsburgh.
