The goal was the Cameroonian s second goal of RECORD BREAKING WIN For the third consecutive season, Steel FC increased its win total from the previous season to rewrite a club record. Steel FC s win against Toronto FC II was the club s seventh win at home, the most as well for a single season. A win on the road at Ottawa Fury FC or Indy Eleven would also be a single-season mark for most away from Goodman Stadium. The Sunday matinee is the third and final regular season contest with the two sides splitting the first two matchups. PREVIOUS MEETING Playing in its first neutral site match, Steel FC continued is winning ways against Toronto FC II with a 2-0 victory in Rochester. After a scoreless opening half, Michee Ngalina broke the match open in the 70th minute. Substitute Aidan Apodaca added the insurance goal 12 minutes later to push the side to another three points. COACH S CORNER Bethlehem Steel FC head coach Brendan Burke: Opening statement Pleased with the performance against Toronto [FC II], to keep a clean sheet against a team that had been very hot on the attacking side of things was important to us. We accomplished that and that s a credit to the guys. We defended from the front and Faris led the line very well for us off the ball and that has a ripple effect through the midfield. [Anthony] Fontana had a good day and so did Brenden Aaronson, on a different day it may have translated to a couple of goals for Brenden but those players were very influential in terms of ball winning but also playing it forward. Really happy with the progress that we made on that day but now we got to see a much tougher opponent and a much bigger game up in Ottawa this weekend. On the possible impact that Nana Attakora and Kevin Oliveira s suspensions will have on Ottawa... [Ottawa Fury FC] have good reserves, a lot of Canadian internationals that they can call on. Guys like Jimmy-Shammar Sanon and others. You saw [Adonijah] Reid impact the game last night in Toronto, they have no shortage of players. They are a big, deep squad. On any message to the team ahead of the big matchup with playoff implications... Just that we have to be very disciplined. Ottawa got a call that last night that puts them in position to be right on our tail going into this game. We need to make sure that we don t put ourselves in that same position where a referee can have such a massive impact on the league standings. The big conversation has been around discipline and making sure that we are moving our feet in those moments where we get isolated and that we don t allow penetration the way it was happening. Transition in particular so we are fully aware that it s a really tall order and half the group will probably be teenagers and no one has ever accomplished that in this league. We are in unchartered territory and we know it so everyone will have to be hyper aware.

Steevan Dos Santos began the run after winning the ball in the midfield that was flicked toward Adonijah Reid. Reid backheeled it back to Dos Santos and found Oliveira on the wing for the goal. Despite the very early deficit, Steel FC looked to respond with chances from James Chambers and Adam Najem. The duo earned chances minutes apart as Najem flicked a pass to Chambers who fired a left-footed curler that was saved by Ottawa goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau. Two minutes later, Chambers repaid the favor to Najem but once again Ottawa made the stop. With the first half winding down, both teams created a dangerous chance but were unable to notch goals. Aidan Apodaca found space on a counter attack in the 42nd minute and chipped the keeper only to see his effort cleared at the goal line. Steel FC came out on the front foot early and converted in the 16th minute of play. After Epps won a second ball near the midfield line, he began the attack with a flick forward. Aidan Apodaca flicked it back to Epps in stride that sent him into the offensive third. With Moar racing in line with the Fury FC defense, Epps delivered a softly-weighted pass to Moar which the Spaniard chipped over the keeper for the opening strike. One goal wasn t enough as Steel FC earned a point to the spot in the 31st minute off a set piece. After Brenden Aaronson played a short corner to Moar, he quickly centered the ball to defender Matt Real. With the set-piece working as drawn up, Real fired a volley to the far post where Drew Skundrich flicked it on frame and forced a handball. Moar stepped up to the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way for the brace and his sixth goal of 2018.

8 2018 BETHELEHEM STEEL FC TECHNICAL STAFF Head coach Brendan Burke Burke is in his third season as head coach of Bethlehem Steel FC, coaching the squad to an regular season record during the club s first two seasons in the modern era. He was formally introduced as the club s first head coach on Oct. 29, 2015 and recently signed an extension to remain with Steel FC for the foreseeable future. During his three seasons with Bethlehem Steel FC, he has navigated 91 different starting XI combinations in 93 career matches while guiding four players to first team contracts with Derrick Jones in 2016, the duo of Cory Burke and Matt Real after the 2017 season and Olivier Mbaizo earlier this year. Overall, Burke had coached 74 players including 29 players with ties to the first team and 17 from the Philadelphia Union Academy the past three seasons. Prior to joining Steel FC, Burke served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Union from 2011 through He was heavily involved in all levels of the U.S. Soccer pyramid, including serving as head coach of the Union s PDL affiliate Reading United from where he had a record of During his time with Reading, Burke coached 49 players that signed professional contracts including Ray Gaddis, C.J. Sapong, John McCarthy and Matt Hedges. Burke served as associate head coach at Northeastern University in Assistant coach Stephen Hogan Hogan, who formerly served as the head coach of the Philadelphia Union s PDL affiliate, Reading United, is in his third season with Steel FC. Hogan guided the PDL squad to a record in his two seasons with Reading United. The club went and won the Mid-Atlantic Division title along with an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals. Hogan followed up with an even stronger record in 2017, tying for the most wins in the 72-team league. During the season that saw the club reach the postseason for the ninth time in 10 seasons, Hogan s squad conceded an Eastern Conference-low 10 goals. As a Reading player under Brendan Burke, he made 52 appearances, second most in club history, while playing from He helped lead the team to the 2009 PDL Regular Season Title and the PDL National Semifinals in 2008 and A native of Dublin, Ireland, Hogan spent two seasons as head coach at the College of Saint Rose s men s soccer program.
