1 Punta Gorda Horsemans Association I am thrilled to announce that we currently have nominations for all officers for the term! There is still plenty of time to nominate other people if anyone is interested. Voting will take place at the May meeting. Directors will start putting together wish lists for each discipline, so be on the lookout for those. More information will follow once those are ready. The grass ring is in pretty rough shape and I have contacted the County about fertilizing ASAP. We are also going to try to get that ring watered several times before the next Hunter/Jumper show, which should help the grass grow and fill in where needed. Please try to stay out of that ring and if you do utilize it, please put the jumps back exactly how you found them. It s very difficult when I have to go out there (sometimes by myself) to set up the ring for the show only to find that someone has repositioned the jumps and wedged poles in. Please bring your own jump cups if you plan on practicing. Again, I would appreciate it if that was kept to a minimum, as the ring is getting torn up. 2 Board and Directors Reports Secretary Peggy Santor PGHA 2015/2017 President Laura St. John Treasurer Marlene Tehrani Checking and saving account balances were given and reviewed by Marlene Tehrani. They were compared to this time last year and we are ahead. Sports Council Brian Dunleavy The County has fixed the light in the clay arena. The County is using new background check forms and those have been ed to all organizations within the council. Field Maintenance - We have asked to have the grass arena watered. A formal letter listing our request for a more permanent bathroom will be sent to the County. A previous answer was that they could give us more Port-A-Lets but anything permanent would be years out. Hunter / Jumper Lisa Johnson The January show brought in 44 riders making up 201 class entries. 5 non riding memberships, 1 horse nomination, 41 schooling fees bringing in $1955.

3 Hunter / Jumper Lisa Johnson The January show brought in 44 riders making up 201 class entries. 5 non riding memberships, 1 horse nomination, 41 schooling fees bringing in $1955. Judges cost $200 and Laura was $220. The February show had 33 riders in a 136 class entries. We received $29 in schooling fees. Total was $1525 minus the judges $200 and Laura $165. Performance Rena Gezzar Feb 4 th was a double judged show. There were 19 riders entering 135/133 class entries for a total of $2021. Judges were $350 and Laura was $190. Speed Shane Cogswell The last show had 39 riders making up 125 class entries bringing in $889 and Gilbert was paid $350. Board Members: There is still time to nominate new Board members for the terms. Nominations will be accepted through April and voted on at the May meeting. Nominations so far are President- Peggy Santor, VP- Jennifer Laningham, Secretary Jamie Cogswell, Treasurer Rena Gezzar, Sergeant at Arms Pam D Amore and Sherry Cummisford for the newsletter. Cows N Plows 4H club: would like to have a fundraising barrel race, at our arena, to raise money for their trip to Denver. It looks like the event would be held on a Friday night (possibly in March). PGHA would not be responsible for anything monetary however they would use the Tower and our equipment. Brian Dunleavy will be onsight at that event. Banquet: will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Cultural Center. If you have suggestions for food choices, contact Laura. T-Shirt Show: Rena Gezzar suggested that theparticipants of the May 6 Performance show would purchase a PGHA T-shirt and could show in that shirt all day. Pre-purchase would be $15 or $20 for the day of the show. Rena has someone that is willing to cover the cost of the shirts. More info at the general membership meeting. If successful, we would consider doing it again. Equestrian Fair: Candace Wehbe from SWFL Dressage will be attending the meeting to discuss any interest in partnering on some type of Equestrian Fair.
