Even the all on the Somerset Trail was well attended given the rain! Further walk description is found at glasshousebw.wordpress.com the club s blog site. HEART WEEK WALK - 08/05/2016 This walk was mainly had members of the club, plus a couple of visitors including Kurt Martin, the Trails Activation Officer of Sunshine Coast Regional Council and his wife. Due to the small number, only the short walk was done around the Trachyte/Tibrogargan Circuit. Point of note the East Tibrogargan Car Park has been moved back up the road with a locked gate at the junction with the walking track from Matthew Flinders Park. DIABETES QLD FUNDRAISING GREAT OCEAN ROAD WALK 2016 Between September , will be the Great Ocean Road Walk fundraiser. Gavin is hoping to be going and needs to raise $1000 registration fee and $1250 fundraising. Gavin is willing to receive any donations given from now to the event. CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING The next club committee meeting will be held (if possible) after the walk on Sunday 15/05/2016. PILGRIMAGE
8 In 2018 it is the club s turn in hosting Pilgrimage.I have been notified that Sunshine Coast Bushwalkers is keen to assist but have requested a better venue. The alternative is Camp Cooroora (the scout camp on Lake MacDonald) from there a plethora of walking tracks, bike riding trails, and kayaking can be done. Also it should be close enough for the Fraser Coast, Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton Clubs to join in. Watch this space! OUTINGS GUIDE In order to reduce the size of the newsletter, an outings guide has been produced which contains the standard items from the newsletter. This guide is read in conjunction with the newsletter to better understand the information resented. As a trial the club is going away from a simple grading system as it is very subjective and instead will present the characteristics of the walk. Like gradient, lowest and highest points and the type of track, and overall ascent. Please advise the committee your thoughts on this change. WALK CALENDAR The club s Walk Calendar contains the dates claimed by the club and other organisations that impact the club. MEMBERSHIP GUIDE This guide explains the process for a visitor to become a member and explains the insurance cover, the environment in which the club operates and other matters. It also provides a handy reference for current members in dealing with issues in the club. TREASURE HUNT Sam Rowe, President of Sunshine Cost Bushwalkers, is holding a Treasure Hunt at the Maroochy Botanic Gardens on 23/07/2016, fundraising for the Great Ocean Walk 2016 for Diabetes Qld. Details will be ed out when available. Collage of Somerset Trail photos 8
