1 CREW MAPS and DIRECTIONS GH100, 2016 Checkpoint 1 Checkpoint is 3km along Caves Rd at the second intersection of the Trachyte Circuit Walking Trail. Crew Route No crew allowed access to Checkpoint 1. Checkpoint 2 Checkpoint is on the top of Mt Beerburrum. Crew Route No crew allowed access to Checkpoint 2. Checkpoint 3 1Km NW on Forest Road off Twin View Rd. Crew Route Head south from the school along Beerburrum Rd to the township of Elimbah. Turn right and follow Twin View Rd to the first track on the right after the intersection of Old Gympie Rd where the Transmission lines cross above the road. Follow the track for 1km and park before the checkpoint on western side of the track. Distance -11.8km Checkpoint 4 400m along Forestry road off Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. Crew Route Head south from the school along Beerburrum Rd to the intersection of Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. Turn right and follow past the junction (after about 3.9 km) where one road goes right (Old Gympie Rd. Continue following Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. for a 2.3km until the bitumen ends. Checkpoint 4 is located on the last forestry
2 road on the right before the bitumen commences at the base of Hennessys Hill. Follow the track for 400m and park after the checkpoint on eastern side of the track as runners will use the track before the checkpoint. Please drive carefully along here as runners are traversing in both directions. Distance - 9.0km School to Checkpoint km Checkpoint 3 to Checkpoint 4 Ch p 4 Bas It is not recommended to take a short cut along Old Gympie Rd as it is a rough, dirt road that is only useable in 4WD vehicles and it is quicker to take the long way around. Checkpoint 5 1.9km east from the intersection of Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. and Glasshouse-Woodford Rds. or 1.5km west of Glasshouse Mts Lookout 589. Crew Route Return to Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. and turn right onto the bitumen up Hennessy Hill to the intersection of Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. and Glasshouse-Woodford Rds. turn right and follow Glasshouse- Woodford Rd. for 1.9km to Checkpoint 5 which is set back off the road to the left under some powerlines. is between the checkpoint and Glasshouse-Woodford Rd. on western side of the road entrance. Toilets are available at the Lookout. Distance -3.8km 5 4
3 Checkpoint 6 The checkpoint will be in the first parking bay of the Mt Beerwah picnic area car park. Crew Route Head east along Glasshouse-Woodford Rd for 4.2km pass the Lookout and turn left onto Old Gympie Rd. Follow north for 1.9km and turn left into Mt Beerwah Rd. Traverse for 5km to arrive at the Mt Beerwah Picnic Area. The last 5oom is gravel road suitable for conventioanal vehicles. for crew will be outside the visitors car parking areas on the edge of Mt Beerwah Rd on the northern side only. Toilets are available inside the Picnic area if required. If you need to pick up any supplies the Glasshouse Mts shopping centre is a few km away. Continue north along Old Gympie Rd for 300m and turn right into Coonowrin Rd and follow to the town centre. Distance -11.2km 6 Ch p 5
4 Checkpoint 7 The checkpoint will be in clearing outside the forest area off Cove Rd. Crew Route Head back along Mt Beerwah Rd to the intersection of Old Gympie Rd and turn left. Follow north for 8.0km and turn left into Peachester Rd. Traverse in a westerly direction for 7km and then turn left into Commissioners Flat Rd and follow for 7km. Turn left into Cove Rd (the last section is gravel road suitable for conventioanal vehicles) and on a sharp bend sweeping to the right in the road the checkpoint is set back on the left. Limited parking for crew will be available in this clearing. Overfill will have to park 200m further down the road where the bitumen restarts for safety reasons. Do not park on the bend as it is a blind corner. Distance -29.5km 7 6
5 Checkpoint 8 1km south of the Raaens Rd (bitumen) and McConnell Rd (bitumen 100m and then gravel) intersection beside forestry gate just before the crest of the hill under the electrical transmission lines. Tent set up to the west of the gate and limited staff parking on the other side of the road. Crew Route From checkpoint 4 return to Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. and turn right onto the bitumen up Hennessy Hill to the intersection of Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. and Glasshouse-Woodford Rds. turn left and follow Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. for 5km to a stand alone Mango tree. Turn left onto this forestry track and follow for 1km and then left into another forestry track and in 3.2km you will be at Raaens and Chambers Rds. Intersection. Turn left and in 800m is McConnell Rd to the right, follow to the parking area which is 500m from of the checkpoint. Crew will have to walk the remaining distance to the checkpoint (torches required). Most runners will do this section at night so please be quiet when passing property gates. Care will need to be taken as runners traverse this road both ways. Distance -12.9km 4 8
6 Checkpoint 9 500m north of the Mango tree on Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. Crew Route Retrace the route you came to checkpoint 8 on from checkpoint 4 and when you reach the Mango tree, diagonally cross Beerburrum-Woodford Rd. into a track which generally has a big puddle on it. The ground under the water is firm, but keep to the shallow eastern side. The checkpoint is at the first trail intersection 500m further along the track. area which is on the eastern side of the track before the intersection. Care will need to be taken as runners traverse this road both ways. Distance -6.6km 9 8
