2 College Green traffic management changes No through east-west traffic movements in the College Green area except for pedestrians and cyclists. Two-way bus and tram movements on Lower Grafton Street and Nassau Street. Two-way segregated cycle track at the Bank of Ireland opposite Trinity College. Bus turn-around arrangement on Dame Street, west of the Plaza area. Reversal of Church Lane and Trinity Street to allow for traffic to access this area for deliveries, car parks etc. and to provide a turn back arrangement so that vehicles can leave the area.

18 Proposed Public Transport Changes Routes using Westland Row will move back to Lower Grafton Street. All Dawson Street routes will use Lower Grafton Street. Some routes which had been moved to Georges Street will move to Lower Grafton Street Remaining Georges Street routes will now use Parliament Street in both directions. A number of routes from High Street/ Patrick Street will now terminate in Dame street west of the proposed plaza and will use the turn around arrangement to commence their routes. Remaining High Street/ Patrick Street routes will use Parliament Street.

Introduce a new right turn from Dame Street to Georges Street Introduce a bus only turn from Dame Street to Parliament Street Introduce a bus only turn from Lord Edward Street to Parliament Street Introduce a bus only left turn from South Quays to Parliament street Provide a contra Flow Bus lane on Parliament Street and also on Capel Street Bridge. Provide a bus only right turn from Capel Street Bridge to the North Quays Provide a bus only right turn from O Connell Bridge to Aston Quay. Additional bus stops North and South quays as well as on Dame Street.

24 Benefits of scheme Conflicting traffic movements have been removed and signalling arrangements simplified and made more efficient. Pedestrians will now have a large area to allow unhindered movement between the main retail areas and the pedestrian link to Trinity College has been simplified. Cyclists will have a completely segregated cycle track which will mean the physical separation of cyclists from tram and bus and removing the need to cross the Luas tracks with bus and tram movements. A major north south Public transport route will now operate with Bus and trams sharing the alignment through this area. Taxis will be able to initially share this alignment unless this causes problems.

25 Benefits of scheme The plaza will allow easy access to public transport with the provision of bus stopping area to the east of the Plaza and a bus turn around area to the west of the plaza. The space created by this measure can now be used to meet the City Council s objective of creating a major civic space. This will allow DCC to fulfil it s stated policies and objectives in the creation of an improved public realm the assembly room of the city at College Green.

26 Next Steps Public consultation on College Green proposal now commenced and closing on the 24 th of May. Proposal if accepted would see implementation in May-June A separate architectural led process for the design of the space would also commence with a part VIII proposal for public consultation by end of As part of the design process a workshop open to the public would be held by the design team, in order to inform the proposals for the design and use of the space.
