In North Carolina & Virginia, alone, these walks represent Easter Seals UCP s commitment and strong following of the thousands that contribute to their success. With more than 3,500 participants and volunteers annually, the Walk With Me brand in North Carolina & Virginia continues to grow each year with an incredibly loyal and dedicated following. Young and old alike, with a strong family focus, the Walk With Me events bring together families and individuals from all walks of life with one purpose in mind improving the lives of children and adults living with disabilities and mental health challenges. These families and individuals make up the core of our consumer market. WHO WALKS? PARTICIPATION by INCOME CAUSE MARKETING MATTERS A 2008 Cone/Duke University Behavioral Cause Study revealed that American consumers have high philanthropic expectations for companies, even amid the current economic crisis. 79% of respondents said they would likely switch brands, when price and quality are about equal, if another brand is associated with a good cause. When replicated online, results revealed that participants spent nearly twice as long reviewing cause-related ads versus general corporate advertisements, resulting in a 19% sales lift. From child development centers to physical rehabilitation and job training for people with disabilities, Easter Seals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's challenges and achieve personal goals.

3 Easter Seals UCP: Making an impact in Charlotte everyday. Who is Easter Seals UCP NC & VA? We are a lifelong partner to children and adults living with disabilities and mental health challenges. Our services include: Early childhood development Adoption Foster care Summer camp Community resources Job training Group homes Substance abuse help Independent living options We provide support and services to more than 1,600 individuals in the greater Charlotte area every year due, in large part, to fundraising events such as the Walk With Me and, particularly, sponsors like you. In 2011, $.90 of every dollar donated to Easter Seals UCP NC & VA went directly towards our services to help those in need. About Walk With Me Each year, more than 60 Walk With Me events across the country raise much needed funds and awareness for those in our community living with disabilities and mental illness. Walk With Me is a year-round endeavor with teams forming and raising funds for months before the event. On Walk Day, registration begins at 9AM followed by a short awards ceremony and an introduction of our WWM Ambassadors. And then the REAL FUN begins! Following our 1+ mile walk, teams and families enjoy a great lunch, live music, games, face painting and so much more.

4 Our 2012 Walk Ambassadors Our Walk Ambassadors are the heart and soul of our Walk as representatives of those we help in our community. Each year, our Ambassadors are nominated by our staff throughout our services to be chosen to help us share the message of Walk With Me. On the day of the Walk, all teams and participants walk on behalf of our Ambassadors and proudly wear a badge with the Ambassador s name to show their support. Meet our 2012 Walk Ambassadors! Mia Rodriguez Mia was diagnosed at the age of 6 months old with "Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia Type 2" (PCH2) a rare diagnosis determined to be a pre-natal onset degeneration of the cerebellum and pons. Mia is a very happy and healthy 3 year old little girl who by the grace of God has come very far in her rehabilitation to be able to walk and talk. It has only been 6 months since she became a proud Easter Seals UCP family member but it's amazing how much she has improved in so many areas. We know she will achieve her goal thanks to the love, dedication and hard work of great teachers, therapists, specialists, staff, and lovely classmates. Judith Hildreth Judy is one of the many people that the Mecklenburg Employment team supports. Judy works at a WalMart in Indian Land, South Carolina. Judy was recently recognized by WalMart as the 2 nd Shift Associate of the Quarter for her work in the Children s Department. Judy enjoys working and interacting with people.
