2 WELCOME Thank you for registering for the 2017York County Walk to End Alzheimer s! Please review the attached information to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable Walk Day experience. We look forward to walking with you on October 7th, 2017! BANK DAYS Bank Day/Early Bird check-in is an opportunity for your team to turn in any donations, pick up shirts, and pick up your team s wristbands. Attending a Bank Day will expedite your registration process. For information on this, see page 3. If you plan to attend, you can RSVP to Frances at fgibbons@alz.org with your shirt sizes and we will pull them ahead of time. Tuesday, October 3rd, :30pm 6:30 PM Brunswick at Longstown 2830 Carol Rd. 3 REGISTRATION All participants are required to register for the event this includes participants of all ages. Whenever possible, we suggest registering online at york2017 prior to October 7th, 2016 at John C. Rudy Park (Where the Memory Walk Began!). (Registration/Not Yet Registered) Upon arriving at the event, participants will approach the Registration Area. This is located at the Entrance of the 1st Parking Lot (from the Pines Picnic Area). Already Registered with Wristbands (Fast Pass): You don t need to do anything, you re all set and can proceed through Fast Pass! Already Registered, No Wristbands: Already Registered tables will be sectioned by last name. Find the table designated by the first initial of your last name. Provide them with your last name to be checked in. You will be given your wristband and you may proceed into the event. Not Yet Registered: If you are not registered prior to the event, you will be asked to complete a registration form prior to getting in line. There will be volunteers with clipboards and registration forms. We will also have a table which you can use to fill out the registration. Once completed you will be given a wristband and you may proceed into the event.

4 Donations NOT turned in online, via mail, or at a Bank Day can be turned in the day of the event. Please bring your donations pre-counted and in an envelope. Please make sure to have the following on the outside of the envelope: Amount enclosed Name of the Team Name of the participant who should receive credit All donations turned in at the event will be deposited immediately following the event. Given the large number of donations we receive the week of the event as well as at the event, please allow up to 2-3 weeks to see your donations to post to your webpage. CREDIT CARD DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE WALK Also, get mobile and Text 2ENDALZ to DONATIONS SHIRTS 2017 Commemorative Walk Shirts will be given to each individual who raises $100. If you have donations to turn in, you must turn them in prior to picking up your shirt. After all donations have been turned in, you will receive a ticket for your shirt. If you do not have donations to turn in, but have raised enough to earn a shirt, you may proceed directly to the t-shirt area. If you plan to pick up shirts for other individuals, please be prepared with their shirt sizes. Shirts are available in sizes S XXXL. On Walk day, walkers will have an opportunity to select and personalize a promise flower. In order to receive a promise flower, you must have a wristband given at either a bank day or Registration (see page 3). To help the pick up of your flower go smoothly, please know which color flower pertains to you. These will be used during our opening ceremony. Blue I have Alzheimer s or dementia. Yellow I am caring or supporting someone with Alzheimer's or dementia. Purple I have lost someone to Alzheimer s or dementia. PROMISE GARDEN Orange I do not have a direct connection to Alzheimer s or dementia but support the vision for a world without these diseases.

5 TIMELINE As Early as 8:30 AM Registration Opens 9:15 AM Pre-event Festivities including: Sing for a Cure Finalist performance, Sponsors, Raffle table, Temporary Tattoos, and ALZ paint the canvas-silent Auction. 10 AM Opening Ceremony: Including Promise Garden Ceremony 10:20 AM Walk begins 11: 30 AM Raffle Prizes Pulled (Please be sure to put your name and phone number). The walk is approximately 2 mile and there s also a 1 mile option. The 2-mile option will follow the blue route. The 1-mile route follows the pink route. There will be water stations with walkie talkie check-in spots in case of an emergency. *Note there are two small declines on the route. 2 Mile Route: ROUTE 1 Mile Route:

6 PARKING Parking is available in parking lot #2 in front of the soccer field #1, 2, 3, & 4 and Handicap parking spaces will be available in parking lot #1 where the festivities will be held. Note: Buses with Residents can be dropped off in parking lot #1 and then park in parking lot #2. Note: Fire police and volunteers will be directing traffic as well as parking. Please be sure to follow their instructions. OTHER DETAILS Dress weather appropriate our event is rain or shine! Light refreshments will be provided including water, fruit, granola bars, etc. Do not bring large items with you such as tables, tents, etc. We thank you for not smoking immediately inside our event. Pets are permitted in the public property areas of our event, however, please keep in mind that we are expecting 1050 participants. Large crowds can be overwhelming for pets and cause distress for otherwise well behaved animals. Any pets who do attend must be leashed and cleaned up after. And, there s also a dog park that they can enjoy before or after the Walk!
