Kings Langley Soccer Football Club The official Newsletter of the Kings Langley Flying Fillies and Colts Edition 3 - Season 2013 Nothing but blues skies! The 2013 season is now well and truly underway, we hope you have all had a great start and are all enjoying your soccer or football as many may call it! After a wet start the weather gods have certainly been on our side providing some beautiful warm sunny autumn days, at times almost summer like. Once again a big thanks to everyone who has helped out with ground set- ups, the BBQ and canteen. We need your continued support and assistance in making sure game day runs smoothly and to ensure everyone is fed and watered! We have started up the weekly raffle so thanks to all that have purchased tickets and to Woodcroft Meats for providing us a great deal on the vouchers and with great quality meat for the match day BBQ. Also a big thank you to our sponsors, we truly appreciate your sponsorship - how good are the sausages sandwiches with that yummy Bakers Delight bread! Not to mention the excitement of winning an encouragement award from either Subway Kings Langley, McDonalds Kings Park or Bakers Delight Kings Langley. We extend a big welcome and thank you Chestercare as a Sponsor of the U16-2 team. Chestercare is a retailer of Rehabilitation products with a primary focus on aid to daily living products. Last but not least a big thank you to the Kings Langley Lions Club for supporting our very important Open Goals program that provides the opportunity for those with special needs to also enjoy our game. Wishing you continued luck with your season. Warm Regards, KLSFC Committee
Round 2 - Match Reports Under 12- Versus: Doonside A good start to the season for the U12- won with 5. A strong start for a team that will only strengthen throughout the season. Round 3 - Match Reports Under 7 Kangaroos Versus: Parklea Player of the week: Jet Our little Kangas had a great game against Parklea. It was another late game but they did extremely well in the heat with no reserves. We had some great field coverage from Chloe and Olivia. Jet punched the back of the net several times and had so many close calls we lost count. Awesome Jet! Jake is showing a lot of improvement already with his kicking game, even clearing one AAM Division 5 Versus: Parklea Result: Loss 3-2 Playing our arch rivals, we knew it was going to be a tough game. Having only the bare 11 players the boys dug deep, we were well in the match in the first half with several missed opportunities & plenty of good ball movement. In the end the boys were out on their feet with the difference of fatigue & stamina that caught up to us in the end, having no reserves. Having solid game's in particular was Dan getting involved in everything, Pointa solid in the back line, Marty with he's attacking runs up front, Brock working hard in the engine room, Josh's never say die attitude. Hold your heads up high team, the difference in failure & success is as thin as a razors edge, plenty of promising signs & with a team still familiarizing themselves it is only a matter of time for us to hit our straps, just keep putting in the hard work & it will come. Great effort. Under 12 - Versus: Riverstone Player of the week: Serena strong we saw the team starting to find their feet. A strong performance from Serena with player of the match. Under 10 Whales Versus: Parklea Player of the week: Jeremy It was a good game even though in the first great in the second half. Parklea was a hard team to beat but we had a good game, the score was 8 to 5, we lost but still had lots of fun. The player of the week was Jeremy, Kyle had a great game in forwards kicking an awesome goal and Maclan also got the ball up to the forwards. Jack saved lots of goals. I think everyone did a good job this week. Written by Jeremy aged 9 player 2
Round 4 Match Reports AAM Division 5 Versus: The Ponds FC - Result: Won 4-2 Player of The Match: Martin Our first win for the season & truly deserving, we started great with great ball movement & having open up the scoring account 2 - nil up by a cracking shot outside the 18 by Shondel & quality finishing by Andrew who was also unlucky not to score a 2nd goal with the ball hitting the cross bar, we were in cruise mode. As the game went on we were our worst own enemy, with The Ponds FC scoring a goal from soft marking defence? In the 2nd half we dug deep, pushing hard with great runs down the flank by Marty, scoring a goal & unlucky not to add anymore to he's tally. Brock secured the victory with finesse chipping over the keeper to add the nail in the coffin. It was a courageous effort by the whole team with solid performances by Sam, Reagan, Josh & Steve. Each week we are improving in fitness, communication & cohesion, we are starting to build & create some structure, which will only improve as the season progresses. Under 12- Versus: Plumpton / Oakhurst - Result: Loss 0 3 The U12- the U12- Although Plumpton/Oakhurst got up in terms of score, the U12- strong team that enjoy their games together. Under 5 Whales Under 5's Whales at home ground come away with a win! I am so impressed by our team we worked really hard for our win this week coming out on top 6-4, Whales made a come back in the second half and really put together some impressive goals. Our team is working hard and I am very impressed with the achievements we are gaining each and every week. Our under 5 Whales worked really well as a team and listened to there coach on and off the field this week. We have a great support system on the sideline who cheer on our team and encourage them to keep up the good efforts. We have walked away winning this week not only by score but in achievements which we are continually reaching. What a great team of which I am so proud to say I coach! Thank you to all of the Players, Parents, Managers & Assisting staff. Under 7 Kangaroos Versus: Quakers Hill Player of the week: Darcy - Encouragement: Olivia Our little Kangas had an amazing game against Quakers Hill. We dominated early with Jet and Darcy scoring three quick goals. Jet and Darcy showed great determination right through the whole match. Chloe continues to show her amazing speed on the field, kicking the ball away from her opponents. A special mention to Olivia who received the encouragement award this week. She is gaining more confidence and got boot to ball many times. We would like to welcome our newest member to our team 3
Round 5 Match Reports U7 Kangaroos Versus: Quakers Hill Tigers Player of the week: Chloe - Encouragement Award: Aleina Our little guys displayed fantastic team work this week. They continue to show us improvement week after week while having so much fun. Chloe is really getting more comfortable on the field, scoring two goals this week. We are so proud Chloe! Great to see Jet, Darcy and Jake moving that ball around between all the players, the gang is really starting to spread out a bit making Kylie one happy coach. And high five to Olivia and Aleina for getting in there and really trying. Way to go Kangas! AAM Division 5 Versus: Glenwood - Result: Lost 4-2 Player of The Match: Reagan From the moment the whistle blew from kick off, we unfortunately were on the back foot, being bombarded & dominated in our own half & having a lack of possession the boys did well to hold off a 2 nil deficit score line. The goals that did come by the opposition were soft easy goals. The 2nd half was a far improvement, we looked like we really had a glimmer of hope after Marty putting one away in the top right corner & later Dan making a bust down the right flank & finishing nicely. In the end they were just too good for us. Coach Betker made a really interesting point in the half time chat & that was we need to trust in each other & know we can rely on one another & start playing for each other, we have the side to go all the way, however we need to start playing as a team, playing to our ability. It's not the end yet lads, still plenty of games for improvement, still early days, & training on Thursday's is where all the hard work & commitment must begin, this will start showing come game day. Round 6 Match Reports Versus: Quakers Hill Juniors - Result: 2-5 Player of the match: Cameron Quakers Hill Juniors started in an aggressive manner but we were able to repel their attacks. The game was evenly balanced until they had a break through the middle to score. After that we had a few clear chances with Damon and Kyle coming close. But against the run of play they scored again, late in the half they had some very fast defence but eventually Cahill got through and scored. In the second half the boys battled hard against bigger and stronger opposition their efforts were rewarded when Cahill scored again, but unfortunately within a minute Quakers scored again and again shortly thereafter, moments before the final whistle Quakers solidified their win with another goal. Under 10 Whales Versus: Oakville Player of the Match: Brandon Encouragement Awards: Jeremy and Peter A glorious sunny morning despite a week of rain leading up to the day. Peter started with several goals including a spectacular bend it like Bekham style goal from a long distance. Many awesome attempts at goal were made by Jade but he was literally pipped at the post by solid a Oakville goalie. It was a very fast paced game with great middle fieldwork from Luke, Jeremy and Maclan. Lots of fancy footwork from Brandon and Jack kept Oakville on their own toes; Josh always kept us in the game by constantly pushing the ball up to provide scoring opportunities. Solid marking from Ethan & Matthew coupled with tight defence from Kyle and Mikayla helped ned 5-4 victory. It was a fun and nail biting game to watch. Coach Rob is extremely proud of the team. 4
Introducing the future of the KLSFC! The young and resilient! A big welcome to our Under 5 teams! For many of these kids it is the first time playing an organised sport and what a first week it was playing in the pouring rain where flippers should have been worn instead of soccer boots! However The Sharks and The Whales showed great courage and resilience and played like troopers not being at all perturbed by the elements! Above: U5 Sharks Letter from the U5 Whales Coach, I am happy to say that our under 5 whales is excelling in every game. They are all team players and love to play soccer with each other and there skills are getting better with every game each week. Myself among the parents of the children have discussed how wonderful our team is growing and we always feel like every game is a win no matter what the score will be. Both teams have settled in well and are enjoying their soccer. We wish both teams the greatest of fun and success in their first year at KLSFC. Many thanks to the Manager and Parents that make all of our games possible and help run the games smoothly each and every week. From one very Proud Coach Also a big welcome to players of all teams that are new to soccer, we hope you are enjoying it and being part of our friendly club! Left and Above: Rooball Resilience in the rain! 5
Newsletters and Match Day Reports Please send your match day reports and any photos to Kate at or take written match day reports to the clubhouse desk templates have been ed to Coaches and Managers. We also welcome any other special soccer related articles that you would like to share and have published in our newsletter. Tip! Have one of the players write up the match reports. $550 FINE FOR SMOKING AT A SPORT EVENT Please be aware that NSW Health - Tobacco Compliance Officers will now be issuing fines to people found smoking at sporting events. Smoking has been banned at sport venues in spectator areas since 7 January 2013 under the Smoke- free Environment Act Club members and spectators are still saying that they are not aware of the new regulation and have not been advised by their club. Unfortunately this excuse will not prevent the individual from receiving a fine but there is a need for clubs to reinforce the awareness of this new regulation. The fine for smoking at a sporting event is $550 to the individual smoker For a trial period, the Canteen is now open on a Thursday night, serving hot beverages for those cold winter nights at training. A big thank you to Mel our Canteen Manager for making this happen! Photo day will be held on Saturday July 20 th, Order forms will be distributed in the coming weeks. Asia Cup Community Ambassadors The 2015 Asian Cup Local Organizing Committee are now seeking expressions of interest for multicultural community ambassadors particularly of an Asian background. The 2015 Asian Cup community ambassador program aims to further engage multicultural communities through a network of community ambassadors. The ambassadors will connect with their particular communities and promote football and the 2015 Asian Cup. If you know of someone interested in this role could you please pass on his or her details to Jason Kriehn at Football NSW.
