3 SECRETARY S REPORT Today it gives me great pleasure to welcome the Players, Management, Directors and Supporters of Falkirk Football Club to Harlaw Park, Inverurie. This is another milestone for our Club as we have never reached the 5th Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup before. We stand only 90 minutes away from the last 8 in the Cup but we know that we will face a formidable challenge today as the Bairns are a full-time Championship side who actually reached the Final three years ago. However we have been playing well recently and the lads will go into the game with no fear whatsoever and as they say what will be will be. John should have a near full Squad to pick from today as no fresh injuries were picked up in our two victories last week against local rivals, Formartine United. The first of these victories saw us win our belated 4th round tie at Pitmedden whilst the second saw us win 3-2 last Saturday at Inverurie to confirm our place at the top of the League. Paul Hartley watched our match at Pitmedden last week and knows that his side face a torrid afternoon but he will have them well prepared for the challenge. The draw for the 6th Round of the Competition takes place after the Aberdeen match tomorrow afternoon and I must say that it would be really nice to figure in it. On Tuesday or Wednesday night we return to league duty when we face Clachnacuddin at Harlaw Park, Inverurie before travelling to Kynoch Park on the Saturday to face Keith. Tuesday 20th February sees us do battle with another local rival, Banks o Dee, in the final of the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield at Harlaw Park, Inverurie. The evening kick-off time is 8 p.m. Finally, I would like to give a huge thanks to everyone from Inverurie Loco Works FC who have worked extremely hard to prepare Harlaw Park for today s match. It s much appreciated. Enjoy today s match Duncan Little Club Secretary

8 JOHN S VIEWS Welcome to Harlaw Park for one of the biggest games in our history where we welcome Falkirk for a last 16 tie in the Scottish cup. The lads have done really well to reach this stage with three very tough away games against Nairn, Airdrie and Formartine so far which have been really tight affairs. Today s opponents are one of the form teams in the championship over the last two months with new manager Paul Hartley adding lots of new players in January so our task is a massive one today but we go into the game full of confidence after three great victories in the three different competitions over the last week. These games bring out the best in our players and they have shown that they can lift their game for the big occasion and this represents an opportunity to challenge and test themselves against full time opposition three leagues above the Scottish Highland Football League. Since we left Allan Park three seasons ago, you have followed us all over country to play our home games and with our new ground progressing well the end is in sight but we know you will get behind the boys today to drive them on to deliver another massive performance. This is an opportunity for everyone at Cove to showcase the club and the Highland League against a team which got to the final of the Scottish Cup in recent years so it s a huge task but it is one we are all relishing. John Enjoy the game today. PLAY THE COVE RANGERS FC LOTTO Sign up for your chance to win this week s jackpot! 11 VIEW FROM THE BOARDROOM Today we welcome all directors, committee, players and supporters from Falkirk FC to Inverurie for our scheduled home tie in the William Hill Scottish Cup. What an achievement for the club to reach the last 16 and we certainly hope to give a good account of ourselves and the Scottish Highland Football League today. Our Scottish Cup journey this season began back in October last year where we faced Nairn County away at Station Park. We managed to win that game 2-1 courtesy of goals from Jamie Masson and Mitch Megginson. As a result of winning that tie, our next trip was away to Airdrie and the Excelsior Stadium. Having been behind in the game 2-1 until reasonably late in the day, a couple of goals from two defenders, Scott Ross and Harry Milne was enough for us to secure a victory by the odd goal in five. What a result for the club to knock out Scottish League 1 opposition at their own ground. The journey back up the road was one of the most enjoyable in the clubs history. In the next round, we got drawn against our near neighbours Formartine United. Whenever there s a cup draw and both teams are in the hat, it seems inevitable we both come out together. This tie was played midweek under the floodlights at North Lodge Park and again, we managed to win the game 2-0 courtesy of goals from Mitch Megginson and Ryan Stott. Facing Falkirk today is our just reward for the efforts in the Scottish Cup this season. We are under no illusions as to how difficult a test today will be. Falkirk will be given every respect as they obviously play in the Championship. We will need to play at our very best today and hope that Falkirk have a bit of an off day in order to get a result but it s the cup and fairy tales do happen! Last Saturday we were in action against Formartine United at Inverurie for our schedule home league match. After falling behind in 13 minutes to an Andrew Greig goal, we hit back superbly through goals from Mitch Megginson (2) and Ryan Strachan (1) to take a 3-1 lead. Formartine hit a consolation goal in injury time and the game finished 3-2. It was another hard-working display from the boys and the league run has been phenomenal. With thirteen league games still to play, there s a lot of points still to be determined. Onto today s opposition and Falkirk are currently sitting eighth in the Championship table. Up until last Saturday where they experienced a 3-1 defeat to Livingston, they had won three on the bounce against Morton (1-0), Livingston (1-0) and Inverness Caley Thistle (3-1). Their midweek game against Brechin City at home ended in a 3-1 victory so we know today is going to be a real challenge. With Paul Hartley as manager, they have an ex-international player who certainly has gained good management experience at Alloa Athletic and Dundee before joining up at Falkirk. Paul Hartley was appointed at Falkirk on the 4th October 2017 replacing Peter Houston. Obviously today is an extra special day for the club and the work that has gone on in preparation for this game has been significant. We d like to thank all our committee and volunteers for helping with all the preparations. Hopefully the hard work everyone has put in will pay off with a seamless match day operation. Again, we d like to thank Inverurie Locos for the use of Harlaw Park. They have been absolutely fantastic as a club supporting our ground sharing requirements. I m sure the boys will be itching to get going today and whoever takes the park will be out to make a real impression. Discipline will be key today and we need to keep the game tight early on and hopefully make an impact as things progress. Again, it s a relatively no pressure game as usually the club are odds on favourites for most of the fixtures we play today though we are definitely the underdog and that is a rare experience for us. Enjoy today s game. CRFC Board of Directors

Falkirk fans will have known Joe from his three year spell with Greenock Morton from TOM TAIWO Tom is now in his fourth season with the Bairns having been brought in by Peter Houston from Hibs as one of the former Falkirk boss first signings.
