On Monday evening students and staff marched to the beat of the Wildcat Band as the Wildcat Homecoming Parade made its way from Palestine High School and around the block to Wildcat Stadium where everyone enjoyed a Pep Rally and Tailgate Party. Thank you very much to all who contributed their time and talent to give the evening a fun and festival like atmosphere. The Homecoming football game will kick off tonight at 7:30 pm as the Wildcats play the Kaufman Lion s at Wildcat Stadium. At 7:00 pm, the Homecoming Court will be announced, and we will find out who has been chosen as Homecoming King and Queen. Come out tonight, show your WILDCAT PRIDE, and enjoy HOMECOMING 2015! I would like to encourage all Palestine ISD staff, parents, and community members to participate in the Palestine ISD Vision 2020 survey that will be used to provide input to guide the district through The survey is available on the district s website, Report cards for the first six weeks will go out next week. I hope everyone has had a great Homecoming week! Palestine ISD staff enjoying ice cold Coca-Cola s provided by PISD Administration to say thank you for a great start to the school year. 3 Go Wildcats Palestine Athletics Robby Clark: Athletic Director Cross Country The Boys Cross Country Team competed in the Teague Invitational this past Saturday. Varsity and JV boys came home with the Championship trophy in both races!! Chris Rangel and Humberto Mendoza were the top runners for varsity. Rudy Ruiz and Hunter Harroff were the top runners for the JV team. We will be hosting our 10 annual Davey Dogwood Invitational this Saturday at Story Intermediate with the races starting at 8:30am. The JH Boys Cross Country team won the Teague Invitational last Saturday. That is their 2nd meet in a row to come home with the championship trophy!!! Top runners for the JH were Luis Rangel, Cristian Castillo, Cruz Alejo and Garrett Bowden. That's two meets and two wins! **************** Football The Freshman Football team traveled to Kaufman and fell short in the last minute to lose 26 to 20. The Wildcat defense forced 2 turnovers and a safety. Delfino Castillo was able to get his first interception on the year. The offense was led by Josh Williams who scored all three Wildcat touchdowns on two big runs and a screen pass from LG Gray. The team s next game will be in two week as they travel to Kilgore to open district. The game will begin at 5:30, and we hope to see you there. LETS GO CATS!!! The Palestine Junior High football 8th grade team played 2 tough games against the Kaufman Lions. The 8th grade B team pulled out a close victory 6-0 with a fumble recovery by Michael Guzman and a 30 yard touchdown run by Tayon Huntley. ****************************** Volleyball The 8th grade A team lost a heartbreaker in the last seconds Jeremiah Davis scored rushing touchdowns of 60 and 85 yards and added a touchdown reception of 25 yards from Quentin Cook. Quentin Cook also had an 80 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown on the defensive side of the ball. All junior high teams will be off next week and resume play at home on October 8 against Kilgore. Palestine Junior Varsity verses Kaufman Junior Varsity Palestine Vs. Mexia -Freshman- Won , 22-25, Player of the Game: Makayla Gonzoles - Coach McDonald " I am very proud of how far the girls have come, they continue to work hard and get better each and everyday." JV- Lost , 25-22, Player of the Game: Shella Green - Coach Firmin, "I am extremely proud of the way the girls played tonight, it was a very tough loss. If we continue to play with this much intensity, we will see favorable results." Varsity- Won , 27-25, 25-20, 14-25, Player of the Game: Summer Hagan - Coach Chapa: "What a great win! We showed how far we have come and how much heart that we have. We came together, stayed positive, and left it all on the court! " The Junior Varsity gave a great effort for the entire game. Unfortunately the Wildcats lost a hard fought game against the Kaufman Lions The offensive player of the game was Will Maldonado. The defensive players of the game was Zach Morrow and Austin Seat. Special Teams players of the game was the entire punt team. The Wildcats will be open next week and returning to play with their first district game against Kilgore at Kilgore on October 8.
4 Palestine High School William Stewart: Principal Homecoming Dress up Days SkillsUSA WLTI Shelby SOnger, Jaydon Mitchell, and ANgela Norman at the U.S. Capital for the SkillsUSA Washington Leadership Training Institute. Wildcat Golf Wildcat Golf hosts the Realestate Developer s golf tournament. Chem Club Students enjoyed throwing water balloons at the Chem Club mole at the tailgate party. Culinary Arts Wildcat Choir Culinary Arts students preparing homecoming treats. Wildcat Choir students recently attended a workshop at Texas A&M Commerce. Pictured is Dr. Randall Hooper, Choral Director at TAMC, leading warm-up exercises before students broke into sections for intensive work on All-Region music. These students will compete against others from Region 21 on Saturday, October 3, with the goal of earning a seat in the Region 21 All-Region Mixed Choir.

History This week in history our students studied the 7 Constitutional Principles which make up the U.S. Constitution in preparation for Constitution Day. ELA Mrs. Woody s 7 th Grade students work together to create timeline posters. Choir Duke Program 24 student qualified for the Duke Program and will be taking the ACT and SAT in the months to come.. Habitats Homecoming Week
