3 BOX TOPS 4 EDUCATION NEWS Well, the first classroom collection contest has to be next month--sorry, but the individual class submissions accidentally got mixed together, so I can't tell you which class submitted the most! Bummer! I can announce the names of the top three individual earners--jacob Patterson in 1st grade with 320 Box Tops!! Wow! Second was Adam Jaworski, Grade 3, with 56 Box Tops, and tied for third place were Noah Roy, Grade 2, and Ava Marie Roy, PK-4, with 33 each. Great job!! Now...for some GREAT news: (drum roll, please)...i just submitted 4,010 Box Tops! That's over 1/4 of the way to our goal of $1500 (15,000 Box Tops) in the first month of school alone!!! Who's better than SAS families!!?? Nobody, that's who!! :) Want to make more $ for SAS just by clicking a button? I just ordered my child's winter outerwear. I logged onto boxtops4education.com and clicked on "Box Tops Marketplace", which is a collection of over 100 brand-name retailers who've agreed to donate a percentage of your purchase price when you shop online through the Box Tops site. Just make sure you've signed up to have SAS as the school you wish to receive the $. Once I clicked on "Land's End" on the Marketplace list of stores, I was rerouted to the Land's End site. I shopped as I normally would, purchased a jacket and boots through the secure encrypted site, and bingo! 2% of my purchase price is going directly to SAS! I recently booked air and hotel through Expedia.com on the Marketplace and 1% of my purchase price was given to SAS! Can you imagine if you bought your child's birthday party supplies through Oriental Trading Company (4%), itunes gift cards (2.5%), your Christmas pictures from Snapfish (6%), or your pet's medications through PET-MEDS (4%)---we'd be making big $ for our wonderful school! Awesome!! Remember, if you need help with the Box Tops website or have questions, Sue Pace at spacemo62@gmail.com or call Thanks, and keep clipping! Book Fair The Scholastic Book Fair will happen soon! We are looking for volunteers to help with setting up, breaking down and staffing the book fair which will run November 1st to 5th. If you can help for a couple of hours during that week, please contact Bridget Shanley at (860) or bashanley@charter.net. Corrections to School Directory Please correct your school directories as follows: address for Orla Donovan, mother of Rachel, should be: odonovan@uchu.edu address for Sue Emond, mother of Spencer Dziedzic, should be sueemond@ppscllc.com

5 Adult Men s Basketball League How about joining a fun new league? We put our hearts into our school and parish, now let s get our hearts pumping with some exercise, while building new friendships and making good use of our beautiful gym! All St. Anthony School adults, St. Joseph parishioners and friends are invited! Join us on Sunday evenings at 6:30 or mid-week TBD. Please contact Jorge Alderete at jalderete7321@charter.net or Thank You! The school booth was a rousing success at this year s Fall Foliage Festival. We spent a beautiful sunny Saturday on Main Street telling visitors about all of the wonderful things that make Saint Anthony School such a special place. We visited with current students and lots of students who we hope will join us in the future. A big thank you to all of our volunteers who helped to create such a positive and effective day: Sandi Lynn and Mike Scherer, Marion Slattery, Adara Buzecan, Kelly Lyder and David Lyder. Your hard work makes our school shine! BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION NEWS As I mentioned last week, it wasn t possible to give class totals as all of the submissions accidentally got mixed together...so a big apology goes out to first grader Myles Buzecan, who collected all summer long and submitted 82 Box Tops! Way to go, Myles! Now in this economy, who couldn't use a FREE $25 grocery gift certificate?? All you have to do for a chance to win is sign up to support St. Anthony School on the Box Tops website, boxtops4education.com. Once you sign up and receive your confirmation, print out the and submit it to the school office. Your name will then be entered into the drawing. If you need help navigating the website or you'd like to let me know you signed up for Box Tops via instead, please Sue Pace at spacemo62@gmail.com, or call (860) Thanks!! Message from the Office When sending notes in to school regarding your child, please be certain to include the full first and last name of the child. This is especially important when the parent and child s last name are not the same, but also because there are often more than one child with the same first name in the school or even within a classroom. All notes to the teacher are reviewed and then combined with other notes from your child s classmates and sent to the office. Often times, records must be changed in accordance with the instructions in the note. It can sometimes be difficult to determine which child the note is referring to. In an effort to ensure that all instructions from home are followed, please be sure that your child s full name is included on all correspondence and is clear and easy to read. Thank you for your assistance in this regard. Book Fair The Scholastic Book Fair will happen soon! Way to go, Myles! Box Tops continue to pour in! SAS families are the best! Woo-hoo! Your coordinator is happy to answer questions regarding the program. Here are a couple that I received this week: Q: "I just made a purchase on the Box Tops Marketplace. Why isn't the percentage donated by Land's End reflected in our school's earnings?" A: Since Box Tops relies on the merchant to report the purchase donations, (and remember, no personal information is transmitted) it may take a whole billing cycle (4 or more weeks) for the donation to be reflected in the school's earnings. If that amount of time comes and goes and you haven't seen the $$ posted, please let your coordi- nator know and I will check it out for you (or you may contact Box Tops customer service yourself, if you wish). Q: "I have some Box Tops with an expiration date on them of June Can I still submit these?" A: Sadly, no. Any Box Tops I receive with an expired date cannot be submitted. :( Q: "I signed up on the Box Tops website last year but didn't put my name in for the $25 gift certificate drawing. Can I still submit my name now for this year's drawing?" A: Sure you can! Hopefully, you still have the confirmation that Box Tops sent you after you signed up. If you do, just print it and bring to the school office. If not, contact me (spacemo62@gmail.com) and we'll work something out. That's it for now!!
