Indicator 1.3 The school s leadership implements a continuous improvement process that provides clear direction for improving conditions that support student learning. Jerry Ross is a HAPPENING Place! Last Saturday we had over 40 students compete in the annual science fair. Sophia Plumer won a gold medal and first place overall. On Tuesday evening, 12 students competed in our annual Geography Bee. Preston Payne was our overall winner with Kyler Peal as a close second. On Wednesday, over 200 students earned double points and were rewarded with delicious doughnuts. The annual Staff vs. Students basketball game took place Wednesday afternoon. It was the closest game yet with the teachers winning by merely one point. Finally, we recognized 25 students this morning at the January Student Of The Month breakfast. Dr. Eineman, our school superintendent, inspired students and parents alike with her presentation. was our special guest this morning for the Student of the Month Breakfast. We certainly do live by our motto: Work Hard, Play Hard, but WORK always comes first! Students, former students, parents, colleagues, administrators, or members of the general public may nominate a CPCSC teacher or employee. There is no limit to the number of teachers or employees that a person may nominate. Nomination forms are available and can be completed on the school corporation s main webpage at or printed and mailed to CPCSC Teacher and Employee of the Year, 200E. 5 Vision screenings for 5 th graders will be on Tuesday, February 3 rd for the following classes: Mrs. Aiello, Mrs. Hautzinger and Mrs. Perkovich. This is a change from last week. These vision screenings are mandated by the state of Indiana. The screenings will be done by Mrs. Arena and Mrs. Taylor, the Winfield Elementary nurse. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them at this time. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Arena. Thank you. Student/Staff Basketball Game Jerry Ross held their 5th annual student/staff basketball game on Wednesday, January 28th. Teachers played against the fifth grade students that earned 20 or more SOAR tickets during the first semester of school. Students can earn SOAR tickets by having self-control, staying on-task, being accountable, and showing respect. The teaches won for the fifth straight time, but it came down to the wire. It was a valiant effort by the students as they only lost by one point. Final score: During the halftime show, students got a chance to show off their jump roping skills and play basketball musical chairs. The jump rope winners were:: 3rd Grade-Cheyenne Rausei, 4th Grade-Ariana Cornett, 5th Grade-Nathan Woodrick. The basketball musical chairs winners were: 3rd Grade-Landen Delich, 4th Grade-Vanessa Del Real, 5th Grade-Jayden Andras. Special thanks to Scotty Foster for being the ref and Coach Annie Equihua and Coach Clint Swan for providing prizes and jerseys.
