6 The First Year After a Teen Gets Their License Is One of the Most Dangerous of Their Life That's why Discovery Education and Toyota have created the TeenDrive365 Video Challenge, which encourages high school students across the country to create PSAs directed at their fellow teens, about the dangers of driving with distractions. Last year, Matt P. and John C. from Olney, MD encouraged teens to drive distraction-free For the Whales and won First Place and $15,000. So which talented Comet teens will step up to win the Grand Prize in 2017? Comets please submit a second distracted driving PSA of your own...the TeenDrive365 Video Challenge is back and accepting entries See Mrs. Goode in the Library for more information!!!

8 Hey Comets, do you like making small films or videos on a variety of topics from what you are learning in your classes or just fun documentaries? The BCPS Film Expo 2017 is looking for submissions from you. Honorable mention, third, second, and first place awards will be given as well as a prize for best in show. 10 Attention Comets we need your help with the Sole Hope project! It is a project that helps people in Uganda by providing shoes which are made out of jeans. Therefore we need jeans. Students who are willing to donate jeans, can bring it to Ms. Nowak in room 208. Thank you for your help!

12 Educators Rising will have a short meeting in room 104 Wednesday after school. We will be discussing plans for American education week. 13 There will be a fundraiser today at Peace A Pizza from 4 to 8 p.m. to benefit the After Prom Party. Please come out and show your support.

14 Attention all athletes interested in Indoor Track. There will be an Indoor Track Preseason meeting today at 2:30pm, in room 312. All athletes interested in Indoor Track should attend. Please see Coach Brusewitz in room 312 or Coach Larsen in room 110B if you have questions.

15 Congratulations to the cast and crew of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged on two fantastic shows this weekend! Now, onto the musical!

16 Auditions for the musical, Cinderella, will be November 16 th AND Nov. 17 th. You will need to memorize and perform a one minute monologue and a song selection for auditions on Wednesday the 16 th. There will be a dance audition the following day on Thursday, November 17 th. All interested in auditioning must come prepared on both days. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Ms. Gill in room 307, Mr. Walker in room 300A, or Ms. Savage in room 241.

17 "The SAT is coming. Are you ready? The Answer will help you learn strategies for guessing, timing, and skipping. YOU can take this class at CHS on Tuesday and Thursday, November 15th and 17th 5:30-9:30P.M. for only $159. If you register for the ACT Prep Class December 6th and 8th as well, you will pay only $259 for both classes" Could you please announce this week and again on the next two Mondays?

19 Hey Comets Have you heard about the Comet Writing Center but aren t sure what it s all about? Do you want to know who the tutors are before you come in for tutoring? 21 There will be a brief meeting afterschool on Thursday November 10 th in Ms. Rivera s room, room number 233 for anyone interested in going on the Booster Club Ski trip to Vermont over Presidents Day weekend.
