1 Year 3 & 4 News Elsewhere in School Our Year 5/6 Indoor Athletics team won the Stevenage Festival and qualified to represent the town at County Finals as a result. Year 2 visited Knebworth House, where they discovered what it was like to live in Tudor times. Year 5/6 had a fantastic weekend away at PGL, boat building, orienteering, abseiling and zip-wiring! We raised over 250 for Sports Relief through a non-uniform day, and all ran our Sports Relief Mile around the field. Our Year 5/6 Boys Football team reached the semi-finals of the Stevenage FA Cup with a dramatic extra-time win. Year 1 learnt about colour mixing, creating a brilliant display of their colour-mixed planets. We rounded-off the term with an exciting disco! March 2016 What we ve been doing this term... Speed Stacking Triumph Back in February, we took part in the Stevenage Speed Stacking Festival. Speed Stacking involves stacking cups in the fastest possible time - something that sounds simple, but is in fact a great test of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. After a bit of practice, our team was selected to represent Bedwell in the competition, featuring Brandon Bannister-Goodge, Victoria Renwick, Cristiano Joseph, Olga Zajaczkowska, Devon Michell, Bradley Evans, Gracie Penny and Demi Copeland, who all gave up their break times to put in extra practice and speed up their times. They performed brilliantly and won the entire competition with a time over 20 seconds faster than any other school. As a result, the team went forward to represent Stevenage at the County Finals, taking on the best schools from across Hertfordshire. Again, they did fantastically well and ended up finishing 8th overall - a brilliant achievement when you realise there are 400 primary schools in the County!. Netball Success Soon after completing the Speed Stacking, we were back in sporting action at the Stevenage Year 3/4 High-5 Tournament, held at Marriotts School. High-5 is a fast-paced, 5-a-side version of netball, with mixed teams who all have to take it in turn to play in every position on the court. After so many of us showed our enthusiasm to take part in the event in training, we managed to persuade Miss Shaw to take 2 teams to the competition, and as a result 14 of us headed out to represent our School last Thursday. Both teams worked hard and showed some excellent catching, passing and shooting skills, and at the end of the competition one of our teams won the Festival, with the other side winning the Teamwork award. Food Tasting The teachers of year 3/4 would like to thank those parents/carers who helped prepare food for Big Writing this term. The task was to describe our favourite meal, and we loved getting the chance to warm ourselves up for writing by trying-out lots of different types of foods and thinking of how we might describe the taste, how it looked and what it smelt like. It was a huge success, with lots of children enjoying food they might not have had before.

2 Stars of Jack Mikiel Year 3&4 News : March 2016 Celtic Harmony Camp Year 3 and 4 had a wonderful trip to the Celtic Harmony Camp in the penultimate week of term and all the children had a fantastic time spending the day in the Iron Age. All the children took part in a number of activities including making bread, weaving, trading in fur and other Iron Age items and making bracelets. The children spent time in the Chieftain s Roundhouse listening to O Wayne, an Iron Age trader, who welcomed the children into his tribe. The children had a great day and were able to add to the knowledge of the Iron Age in a practical and hands on way. Lyla Ruddock Alfie Smith Carl Chapman

Everyone involved rehearsed tirelessly throughout the term, under the expert training of our Dance coach, Miss Richards, and on the day of the performance they performed fantastically in both the afternoon and evening, wowing the packed audiences, who cheered and clapped loudly each time! 6 Stars of Libby Barber Year 3&4 News : March 2016 Stevenage Mini-Olympics At the end of January, Year 4 were invited to take part in the Mini-Olympics run by Stevenage Sporting Futures. This exciting day gave us the chance to try-out many different new activities, including curling, gymnastics, hockey, cricket and tag rugby. Many of us discovered something we really enjoyed and were keen to continue with, either at school or with one of the local clubs - and you can certainly tell how much fun we were having from the smiles on our faces in all these pictures! Firstly when he s talking to us he starts to spit and you will find that the nearest tables and children are absolutely covered in spit and their work is soaking wet and their parents are complaining about the state of their child s clothes. My next concern is that he is continuously burping and sneezing at the same time (He thinks we don t know but we do). The classroom reeks of whatever he has eaten at lunch He can also be quite loutish when he wants to be. Thirdly he never brushes his teeth! Which is why when he says something to a child they hold their breath, some have even been known to pass out during his recounts and long conversations. My last point is he is always falling asleep on his desk and on lots of children s work, so I beg you. Please give us a new teacher. I appreciate your time. Yours sincerely, Eddy Musomba Prepare yourself to be amazed. Never before have you seen a toy quite like this. The Teddy Bear 2000 is out of this world! Then buy the Teddy Bear By Amy Randall It was a scarily dark night, the boy accidently found the haunted and dilapidated mansion. As he went in he saw a coal-black staircase furthermore a ghostly grey padlock. After that he went up the staircase and saw red blood cascading down the window and he saw and eerie doll, the size of a fox. It was holding an extremely sharp knife. Suddenly he heard people screaming for life! When the boy walked into the room a liquid dripped onto his head. When he looked up the liquid was dripping from a highly flammable can. Consequently he ran and ran and never came back. By Jacob Herron
