National Red Ribbon Week is this week from October 23 to October 31, The Red Ribbon campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City brutally tortured and murdered Enrique "Kiki" Camerena, a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA. Bill: Within weeks of his death in March 1985, Camerena's congressman and high school friend launched the Camerena Clubs in California. Hundreds of club members pledged to lead drug-free lives to honor the sacrifices made by Camerena and others on behalf of all Americans. Vin: From these clubs emerged the Red Ribbon week campaign. The Red Ribbon campaign became a symbol

2 of support for the DEA's efforts to reduce the demand for drugs through prevention and education programs. Yves: So Today begins Red Ribbon Week 2018! It's a week dedicated to presenting a visible commitment to living a safe, healthy, drug-free life. Show your commitment by wearing red this Friday, October 26. All homerooms with 100% participation and a decorated door will win free breakfast from the PTSA! Today though, is "Falcons Fly Above the Influence" Day, so let's see those school colors! Tomorrow is Pajama Day because your choices are the key to your dreams! Forms for underclassmen that want to retake school pictures are located in the media center ONLY! Students that missed their initial pictures can use these forms as well. Attention all FBLA members... Please go on to Google Classroom for important information or see Mrs. Hulbert ASAP. Attention sophomores... Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 24, class ring orders will be taken during lunches in the underclass cafeteria. We'll be back after this... (MAMMOGRAM) Bill: Please come out and support the boys soccer team as they play for the division title today against Newton.

3 They are lead by captain Bryan Stefans and seniors Nick Gencarelli, Hunter Good, John McCloskey, and Ben Shapiro. Game is on the turf field at 6:30pm. Good luck and go get 'em! The first math league test will be today after school at 2:30 in room D18. See Miss Serzan with any questions. In other news... Seniors with late arrive LA1 and LA4 should see Mrs. Brown in B10 during the academic periods to sign the senior signature page of the yearbook. Attention students: The ASVAB will be administered at JTHS on October 24th at 8:30am. Any interested students should sign up in the guidance office, and complete and return the permission slip ASAP. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: Today is the college fair in the underclassmen cafeteria from 8:30-10:00 am. You must have a pass signed by your teacher in order to attend the college fair. Now here's Vin... Vincent: Habitat for Humanity club is selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They will be delivered to the football game this Friday night.

4 If you would like to pre-order a box, or more, of glazed doughnuts, they are $10 per dozen. You can order from any Habitat for Humanity member or from Mrs. Kula. All orders must be received no later than NOON TODAY, Tuesday, October 23. Hey Seniors! Seniors need to log in to the Lors portal and select which pose they want to be featured in the yearbook. Directions are on Google Classroom. Attention All Juniors!!! Don't forget to participate in our Gertrude Hawk fundraiser. You should have received a catalog in homeroom last week. If you have any questions please see one of your class officers or advisors. Attention Sophomores! Your class is selling gold, tie-dye long and short sleeve shirts. Order forms were distributed in homeroom and can be found on the Class of 2021 Google Classroom. Orders are due by October 26th to Ms. Russo in D6. But wait, Sophomores, there's more! Your class is also running a Yankee Candle fundraiser. Please consider participating so we can raise money for your class! Brochures were distributed in homeroom and the necessary information is posted on the Class of 2021 Google Classroom. All orders and money must be submitted by November 2nd.

SENIORS- Do you need help with your college applications? You are invited to come down to the Guidance Department today through Friday, November 2nd for 'College Application Snacks and Apps'. Bring your lunch and laptops, and the counselors will be available for questions on all areas of the college application process. Snacks will be provided. Now here's Yves with the shout outs...
