Refer t Nise Cntrl SWMS fr detailed infrmatin regarding the preventin f hearing lss and legislative requirements. Natinally Accredited Certificatin is required t perate MEWP (Mbile Elevated Wrk Platfrm) with a bm length abve 11meters. Fr ther types f MEWP, persns must be ver 18 and deemed cmpetent t use the equipment. Cnstructin Inductin Card (r equivalent) - fr wrkers wh are required t wrk n cnstructin sites. All peratrs t be trained and cmpetent t safely perate a cherry picker. Ensure all relevant wrkers undertake training and receive instructin in the use f cntrl measures: - Operatr must be FULLY cnversant with the manufacturer s safe wrk instructins and Safe Wrking Lad (SWL) fr the specific Mbile Elevated Wrk Platfrm (MEWP) - Operatr must be FULLY cnversant with the safety devices present n the MEWP - Reprting prcedures fr incidents - Crrect use f fall restraint equipment including selecting, fitting, use, care f and maintenance - Crrect use f tls used - Use f supervisin where required (e.g. new starters r new equipment) - Recgnitin and cntrl f fall and electrical hazards - Limitatins f the equipment - Rescue prcedures in the event f a failure - Crrect prcedure fr handling equipment and materials while wrking at heights - Manual handling.

Cnsider: - Whether the task can be partly cmpleted n the grund r slid cnstructin (e.g. assemble cmpnents n the grund and lift rather than assembling at height) - Severity f the risk f falling r hazardus material expsure - Likelihd f a fall ccurring - Any existing cntrl measures and whether they are sufficient - Measures t be put in place t cntrl risk - Determine if current training and experience sufficient fr undertaking the task at height - Determine if emergency prcedures wuld be acceptable. If a fall arrest system is utilised, emergency and rescue prcedures must be develped fr the system. Whenever any persn is wearing a harness, a rescue plan must be in place as suspensin trauma can ccur t persns wh fall and remain in the harness fr mre than 5 minutes.

Lwer platfrm, islate cntrls and psitin in secure lcatin. Re-fuel MEWP when the engine is shut dwn. Ensure n smking r sparks in area. Cnduct an inspectin f equipment fr damage and reprt and faults. Nte: - Avid breathing vapurs r cntact with fuel - If clthing is splashed with fuel, change it immediately - Ensure re-fuelling is undertaken in well-ventilated area, clear f ignitin surces. Re-fuelling: - Shut ff engine - Allw t cl befre re-fuelling if pssible - Remve cap slwly - Use a fuel hse, puring sput r funnel - Fill tank and wipe away excess - Ensure there is n ver spill - Ensure cap has been secured and any vapur residue has been wiped away - Check fr leaks. Never: - Siphn r swallw fuel as this can be fatal - Refuel while the mtr is running - Never jam the refuelling latch n the nzzle pen - Smke while re-fuelling r near fuel cntainers - Use mbile phne during re-fuelling - Use fd r drink cntainers t stre fuel. Nte: D nt eat, drink r smke during/after-handling fuel until hands are carefully washed. Shwer and wash immediately after wrk. Wash clthes in separate wash frm ther clthes.
