LOCATION: Hargrave Military Academy, Onishi-Davenprt Aquatic Center, 200 Military Drive, Chatham, VA 24531, (434) FACILITY: 50 Meter by 25 yard pl, lanes have nn-turbulent lane lines, deck anchred starting blcks and water depth f minimum f 4.5 feet at the starting end. Clrad Timing System with clr screbard. Tw 8-lane cmpetitin curses will be used during preliminary sessins, with three lanes f cnstant warm-dwn, warm-up. Finals will be cntested in a single 8-lane pl. The cmpetitin curses have nt been certified in accrdance with current USA Swimming Rules and Regulatins, Article C (4). Teams in the Blue Ridge Regin are: ACAC, ACST, BASS, BRAC, CAST, CCA, CYAC, FUAC, GATR, HOKI, KFY, LASO, LY, QSTS, RSA, SCAT, SFY, SMAC, STRM, VAST, and YMST Teams in the Suthwest District are: ACAC, ACST, BASS, BRAC, CAST, CCA, CYAC, FUAC, GATR, HOKI, KFY, LASO, LY, SCAT, SFY, SMAC, STRM, VAST, YMST The qualifying perid fr this meet is January 1, 2016 thrugh February 23, 2017 N n deck Virginia Swimming athlete registratin will be permitted. Swimmers may cmpete in any individual event r relay leg in which they have a time that is slwer than the age grup champinship qualifying time except the 400 IM, 500 free, and 1000 free. 15 and lder swimmers may cmpete in any individual event r relay leg in which they have a time that is slwer than the senir champinship qualifying time except the 400 IM, 500 free, and 1000 Free. 15 and lder swimmers must have at least a B time t qualify t enter the 400 IM, the 500 free, r the 1000 Free. 2 DISABILITY SWIMMERS: 14 year ld swimmers aging up frm February 24 t March 2, 2017 and 10 r 12 year ld swimmers aging up frm February 24 t March 9, 2017, with times t fast t qualify fr this champinship will be allwed t cmpete under the fllwing cnditins: Any 14 year ld swimmer wh des nt qualify t swim an event at Senir Champs and any 10 r 12 year ld swimmer wh des nt qualify t swim an event at Age Grup Champs may swim the event at this meet. 10, 12, and 14 year ld swimmers aging up between champinships will be seeded crrectly by time, hwever will swim exhibitin nly, and will nt be eligible t receive an award r cmpete in the finals sessin. Athletes with a disability are welcmed and shall prvide advance ntice f desired accmmdatins t the Meet Directr. The athlete (r the athlete's cach) is als respnsible fr ntifying the sessin referee f any disability prir t the cmpetitin. FORMAT: All 13 & Older swimmers will swim a cmbined preliminary sessin in the mrning sessin. Tp swimmers and the tp 16 15&O swimmers regardless f divisin will swim the final sessin each day year ld swimmers will swim a preliminary sessin in the mrning, with the exceptin f the 500 free and the 400 IM which will be cntested in the mrning sessin as timed finals. The tp swimmers will swim in finals each day, except in the 200 butterfly, 200 backstrke, and 200 breaststrke where nly the tp 8 swimmers will cmpete in finals. Only the tp heat f the 1000 will swim in finals, regardless f age. Finals will be swum with the cnslatin heat cmpeting first, fllwed by the final heat. Tw curses may be used Friday, Saturday and/r Sunday nights at the discretin f the meet referee year ld swimmers will swim a preliminary sessin in the mrning with the exceptin f the 500 free which will be cntested in the mrning sessin as timed finals. The tp 8 (eight) 9-10 year ld swimmers will swim in finals each day. All relay events will be timed finals and will be cnducted during the preliminary sessin. Only the tp heat f the 1000 will swim in finals, regardless f age. WARM-UP: Prelim sessins: Warm-ups nt befre 6:30am; cmpetitin starts nt befre 8:30am. Finals sessins: Warm-ups nt befre 4pm Friday and Saturday, 3:30pm n Sunday; cmpetitin starts nt befre 5:30pm n Friday and Saturday, 5:00pm n Sunday freestyle: The pl will be pened fr 10 minutes f pen warm-ups immediately fllwing the finish f the relay events, with the 1000 (Sunday) freestyle cmpetitin starting 5 minutes thereafter. Lane assignment and warm-up times fr individual clubs will be psted n the CCA website at n later than February 21, 2017, and will als be ed t the cntact persn f the participating clubs. ENTRIES: DEADLINE FOR THE RECEIPT OF ENTRIES IS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, Cnfrming and Nn-cnfrming times will be used fr entry Shrt Curse Yards then Lng Curse Meters then Shrt Curse Meters. Nn-cnfrming times will be seeded fllwing all cnfrming times. Entries must be submitted using Hy-Tek Team Manager and Cmmlink-2 sftware, r file able t be imprted by Hy-Tek Meet Manager, r n a VSI master entry sheet. Teams submit entries via . A Team Manager printut f entries must be included r the VSI meet summary sheet (available at VSI website, ) with the name, address, and phne number f the persn t cntact in case f questins must accmpany the entries, regardless f hw they are submitted. Swimmers 9 and lder may enter a maximum f 8 individual events, n mre than 3 per day, and ne relay per day. Relay teams must be designated A, B, r C, if mre than ne per club is entered per event. Teams may submit three (3) relays per event. 2

3 The Meet Directr reserves the right t cmbine heats and events, which actins may require reseeding, and use bth curses in a manner that expedites timelines. N Time (NT) entries will be accepted except in the 400 IM, 500 free, and 1000 free, where swimmers must have achieved a minimum f a B time, and 15 & lder swimmers must have achieved a minimum f a B time. Additinal prf f ENTRY time, if requested, must be prvided t the Age Grup Chairman within tw (2) weeks f the request. FEES: Individual events: $6.00 Relay events: $15.00 Swimmer surcharge: $2.50 per persn (entered in the meet in any capacity) Late Fees: In additin t the regular entry fee, a fee f $10 per event prir t the first day f the meet and $25 per event n r after the first day f the meet will be charged fr any entry received after the entry deadline. Failure t pay entry fees by this deadline will result in teams being barred frm the meet. Swimmers will be permitted t enter the meet as unattached prviding they pay the apprpriate entry fees. IMPORTANT: If payment is sent via Express Mail/FedEx/Airbrne/UPS/etc., please ensure that a signature is NOT required fr delivery as this will delay the receipt f yur entries. AWARDS: Individual events will be scred and awarded first thrugh sixteenth place. Medals will be awarded fr first thrugh third place, ribbns fr furth thrugh sixteenth place. The 1000 Free will be awarded as and 15 & ver age grups. Relay events will be awarded medals fr first thrugh third place and ribbns fr furth thrugh eighth place. Team awards will be given fr 13 & lder swimmers as well as fr 12 & yunger swimmers, first thrugh third place. The teams placing will receive a plaque. Scring will be as fllws: Individual: Finals ; Cnslatins Relay: Finals Only the tp tw relays fr ne team may scre in an event. SEEDING: The 400 IM, 500 Freestyle, and 1000 Freestyle, will require a psitive check-in t swim. All ther events will be pre-seeded. Psitive check-in will clse at 8:30am each mrning fr the prelim sessins. SWIMMERS FAILING TO POSITIVELY CHECK-IN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SWIM THE EVENT. A swimmer wh psitively checks-in and declares their intent t swim fr a distance event and des nt shw up t cmpete will nt be able t swim his/her next event. The 400 IM and the 500 freestyle fr 13 and lder swimmers will be swum in preliminaries with the fur fastest heats f girls swimming first, slw t fast, fllwed by the fur fastest heats f bys, swimming slw t fast. The remaining heats will swim fast t slw, alternating girls & bys. Event# , the Free will be swum tgether but separated 9-10 and fr awards and scring. This event will be swum fast t slw, alternating girls and bys. The 1000 Freestyle will be swum fastest t slwest and alternating heats f girls and bys. Any athlete entered in the 1000 freestyle will be asked t indicate a preference fr swimming with preliminaries r with finals. The preliminaries/finals preference must be declared by the apprpriate psitive check-in deadline. The fastest 8 swimmers that wish t swim during the evening finals will swim during the evening finals. 3

4 PENALTIES: Penalties fr entries using fraudulent and/r nn-verifiable entry times: Swimmer shall be marked as exhibitin fr the event entered illegally and the event shall be re-scred and awarded. Club may be fined $100 fr each ffense, and a recrd f such ffenses shall be kept and published as part f the fficial meet results. Clubs entering swimmers nt legally registered with USA Swimming befre the first day f the meet may be fined $100 per swimmer in each event s entered. If the swimmer is representing a club in cmpetitin, the fine will be levied n the Club. If the swimmer is unattached, the fine will be levied n the swimmer. RULES: The current USA Swimming Rules and Regulatins will apply. OFFICIALS: Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USAS member cach as being prficient in perfrming a racing start r must start each race frm within the water. When unaccmpanied by a member cach, it is the respnsibility f the swimmer r the swimmer s legal guardian t ensure cmpliance with this requirement. Operatin f a drne, r any ther flying apparatus, is prhibited ver the venue (pls, athlete/cach areas, spectatr areas and pen ceiling lcker rms) any time athletes, caches, fficials and/r spectatrs are present withut written USA Swimming apprval. The verhead start prcedure will be used fr the prelim sessins. The scratch prcedures listed in the current USA Swimming Rules and Regulatins, Article , sectins D and E nly will be in effect and mdified as fllws: The scratch rule regarding finals will apply t bth heats (final and cnslatin), f all 9&O events, excluding the relays, and the Free, IM, and the 13 & lder 1000 Free. Use f audi r visual recrding devices, including cell phnes, is nt permitted in changing areas, rest rms r lcker rms. In additin, phtgraphy behind the blcks is nt permitted. Changing int r ut f swimsuits ther than in lcker rms r ther designated areas is nt apprpriate and is PROHIBITED. In accrdance with VSI best practices, swimmers shuld shwer befre entering the pl. TIMERS: Clubs will be required t prvide timers in prprtin t the number f swimmers they have entered in each sessin. The number f timers required per club and their lane assignments will be psted n the CCA website at r n later than Tuesday, February 21, and will als be ed t the cntact persn f each f the individual clubs. Swimmers in the 500 and 1000 freestyle shuld supply their wn timers and lap cunters. 4

5 GENERAL: Breakfast & dinner and light snacks will be prvided fr caches and fficials each day. Cncessins will be prvided fr the swimmers and parents. Heat sheets will be sld fr $10 with finals heat sheets at n cst with cupn. Finals heat sheets will be sld fr $2 withut cupn.
