VS. ROAD WARRIORS: After losing their first two games in Detroit to open the road schedule, the Orioles have won 13 of their last 19 road games (10-2 at night and 3-4 in day games) The Orioles are on pace to go on the road this season, a win total that has been eclipsed only by the 1997 squad (52-29) since NOCTURNAL BIRDS: The Orioles are 17-8 (.680) in night games in 2014, the best mark in baseball, while going just 5-10 in day games (.333), which ties them with Arizona (5-10) for the second-lowest win percentage in MLB ahead of the 6-14 Cubs. GETTING DEEP: Chris Tillman tossed a complete game shutout last night, improving the Birds to 7-3 when their starting pitcher tosses 7.0 or more innings this season, including a 3-0 mark on the road. A ROYAL PAIN: The Royals have held the Orioles to three runs or fewer in each of their last eight meetings, tied for the longest streak in head-to-head play history between the clubs (also July 26, 1987-July 30, 1988 when the Birds went 0-8) The streak dates back to July 23, 2013, and the Birds are 3-5 in those eight games. SOUTHPAW SAVE: With his first major league save Thursday night, Zach Britton became the first left-hander to record a save for the Birds since Michael Gonzalez, July 16, 2011 against Cleveland Britton is the 45 th lefty to save a game for the Birds and the 165 th Oriole to record a save Tippy Martinez is the Orioles all-time lefthanded saves leader with 105 and is third on the club s all-time list (Gregg Olson 160 and Jim Johnson 122).
