Monday night (makeup of July 8 rainout) The Orioles are coming off a 4-2 homestand that saw them take two of three from the Mariners and Angels The win over the Nationals gives the Orioles a season-high five consecutive series wins The Orioles are 22-9 since June 30 and are 5.0 games ahead of Toronto for the AL East lead. VS. TORONTO: The Orioles lead the season series, 6-5, with the Orioles going 3-4 in Baltimore and 3-1 in Toronto In 2013, the Orioles won the season series, 10-9, as they went 6-3 in Baltimore and 4-6 in Toronto The Orioles trail in the all-time series, ( in Baltimore and in Toronto) Since the start of the 2012 season, the Orioles are 16-9 at home against Toronto The Orioles are in their last 23 games in Toronto. BIRD ON BIRD CRIME: In four games at the Rogers Centre this season, the Orioles have scored 33 runs (8.3 per game) The 33 runs in four games are more than the Birds scored in nine games in Toronto in 2010 (20) and matches their nine-game total from 2009 The Birds have pounded out 48 hits in the four games in Toronto this year, reaching double figures in hits in three consecutive games at Rogers Centre for the first time since September 16, 2007-June 7, 2008 The last time they posted 10+ hits in three or more straight games in the same season in Toronto was April 16-August 13, 2004 (four straight games). BIRD BASHER: Since the start of the 2012 season, Chris Davis has hit 20 homers against the Blue Jays (four this season), while Adam Jones has hit 15 over that span The only other major leaguer in double digits against the Jays over the last three seasons is David Ortiz (12) Davis 23 career homers against Toronto are his most against any one club and according to STATS, his.668 career slugging percentage against Toronto is the highest of any player all-time (minimum 200 PA) Nelson Cruz is second (.610), ahead of Matt Stairs (.604) and Ken Griffey, Jr. (.600). THREE S COMPNAY: After winning 9-3 in Toronto last night, the Orioles have won three straight games in three separate cities in three days It is the first time the team has done so since September 7-9, 2011 The Orioles defeated the Yankees 5-4 in New York, followed by a 5-4 walkoff win against the Yankees in Baltimore and then shut out the Blue Jays 2-0 the following day in Toronto. BACKSTOP WITH POP: Caleb Joseph has homered in a career-high three consecutive games and is one shy of tying the Orioles record for a catcher, set by Ramon Hernandez (June 22-28, 2006) and Gus Triandos (June 13-19, 1959) The last Oriole catcher to homer in three straight games was Matt Wieters (September 12-14, 2011) Over his last 10 games (since July 22), Joseph is 12-for-35 (.343/.361/.686) with three home runs and five RBI. DOWN ON THE FARM: The Orioles Player Development Department has named Class-A Delmarva LH Luis Gonzalez the organization s Pitcher of the Month and Delmarva INF Drew Dosch as the Player of the Month for July Gonzalez was 4-0 with a 1.65 ERA in five starts, while Dosch batted.364 (39-107) with a homer and 15 RBI HIGH FIVE: The Orioles are now 5.0 games ahead in the AL East with last night s win It is the first time the team has had a 5.0 game lead since September 20, WINNING!: Since July 1, the Orioles are 21-9 with a.700 winning percentage, which is the highest in the majors in that span Their 21 wins in that span are only behind the Los Angeles Angels (22), for the major league lead. NO WEAK SPOT: Yesterday marked the first time that the Orioles 7 th, 8 th and 9 th spot in the order homered in same game since September 2, 2007 vs. Toronto (Jay Payton, J.R. HIT MAN: Nick Markakis collected his 43 rd multi-hit game of the season Tuesday, which is the second-most in the majors behind Jose Altuve s 47 Markakis now has 426 career-multi-hit games, which places him T-4 th on the Orioles all-time list with Brady Anderson Cal Ripken Jr. holds the club record with 845 multi-hit games, followed by Brooks Robinson (745), and Eddie Murray (596). A GOOD TIME TO VISIT ROGERS CENTRE: Since his second inning home run July 25 at Seattle, Nelson Cruz is mired in a 2-for-35 slump which has dropped his average from.276 to.260 In his four games this season at Rogers Centre, Cruz is batting.438 (7-16) with a double, three homers, five runs scored, three walks, 12 RBI and a OPS.
