VS. OAKLAND: The Orioles lead the season series, 3-1 One more win in the season series would clinch the season series win for the Orioles for the first time since 1998 (8-3) The A s won the season series, 5-4, in 2012, as the Orioles went 3-3 in Baltimore and 1-2 in Oakland The Orioles trail in the all-time series ( in Baltimore and in Oakland) The series win in Oakland April was the Orioles first in a four-game set at Oakland since July 31-August 3, GARCIA TRADED: The Orioles today traded Triple-A Norfolk RH Freddy Garcia to the Atlanta Braves organization in exchange for cash considerations Garcia was 3-5 with a 5.77 ERA (53.0IP, 34ER) in 11 games (10 starts) for the Orioles. JUST DO IT: Bud Norris is going for his career-high 10 th win tonight Norris won nine for the Astros in 2010 (9-10) A win tonight would be his fourth straight win as a starter (he took the loss in relief August 14 at Arizona), which would tie his career-high (also May 5-21, 2012 and July 28-August 19, 2010) The Orioles have won all four games he has started since being acquired July 31 (Norris is 3-0 in those four games). GOOD TO SEE YOU: In two career at-bats against Dan Straily, Matt Wieters has two solo homers. AWESOME AUGUST: In the month of August, J.J. Hardy is batting.322/.375/.559 with two doubles, four homers, eight runs scored, seven RBI and five walks He has hit in 14 of the 15 games he has played in August. TERRIFIC TRIO: With his next home run, Matt Wieters will reach 20 for the third straight season J.J. Hardy and Adam Jones have both already cracked the 20-homer plateau for a third straight year According to STATS, the only team since 1921 to have a catcher, shortstop and centerfielder (based on primary position) each hit 20+ homers in even two straight seasons was the Cleveland Indians (Jhonny Peralta, Grady Sizemore and Victor Matinez in 2007 and Kelly Shoppach in 2008). DIVISION DOMINANCE: The Birds are now (.633) against the A.L. West this season, their fifth-best winning percentage against the West all-time (behind 1997, 1969, 1971 and 1979) and second-best since each league went to three divisions in 1994 (behind 32-12,.727 in 1997). (STATS) CLOSING IN: Chris Davis hit his 36 th double Monday He is four doubles away from becoming the 12 th major leaguer to record 40 or more doubles and 40 or more homers in the same season, joining Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Albert Belle, Todd Helton, Larry Walker, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Derrek Lee, Alfonso Soriano, Juan Gonzalez and Chipper Jones Belle, Gehrig and Pujols are the only players to do it twice.
