NICE FIRST IMPRESSION: Marco Hernandez led off the bottom of the first inning with a homer, but that would be Portland s lone run, falling to the Binghamton Mets, 6-1 on Tuesday night in the series opener Gabriel Ynoa (3-4) fired seven innings on four hits and one run to notch the win At one point, Ynoa retired 15 in a row, and threw 59 of 92 pitches for strikes Mike Augliera (2-10) suffered the loss for Portland, yielding five runs (three earned) over 5 IP Portland committed four errors over innings two and three, leading to 2 unearned runs Brock Peterson went 2- for- 4, 2 RBI and a double for the Mets. SAY GOODBYE TO THE WEST: Portland began a 42- game stretch against the Eastern Division last night Their next series against the Western Division will be a four- game set with the Harrisburg Senators on July 30- August 2 at Hadlock Field The Sea Dogs have dropped 10 of 15 games to the West. HOW ABOUT THIS RELIEF: Portland s bullpen has allowed eight earned runs in their last 56.1 innings pitched (1.28 ERA) Kyle Kraus worked three innings last night, giving up one hit, a solo- homer to Eudy Pina Robby Scott pitched a scoreless ninth on one hit and has not allowed an earned run in his last 10 outings. WELCOME TO PORTLAND: OF Dave Sappelt made his Hadlock Field debut last night, going 0- for- 2 with a walk in the eighth inning Sappelt has reached base safely in all five starts with Portland, joining the Dogs on June 11 th in Richmond.
