LOOKING FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SERIES: Portland picked up back-to-back series wins, against New Britain and New Hampshire, for the first time since July 18-27, 2011, when they won three consecutive series The sweep of New Hampshire at Hadlock marks the first time since September 3-6, 2010 that the Sea Dogs had swept an opponent at home Portland has not won four straight since a six-game win streak last June 1-7, which includes their last road sweep (at Altoona). BRENTZ BACK TO FORM?: Bryce Brentz enters tonight s game hitting.243 (27-for-111) but in the last seven games, the outfielder/dh is 9-for-26 (.346) with 2 homers, 3 RBI, and four runs scored Juan Carlo Linares remains the Dogs leading hitter, picking up 12 hits in the last 10 games with a homerun and 8 RBI. THE ROAD IS LONG, WITH MANY A WINDING TURN: Portland continues to have its struggles away from Hadlock Field In 18 games the Dogs have compiled a.227 batting average and their arms a 5-13 record with a 5.53 ERA At Hadlock, Portland has hit.278 and earned a 6-9 record with a 3.81 ERA. THIS DATE IN SEA DOGS HISTORY: May 11, 2003 Tony Schrager tied a six-year old franchise record with six RBI in a 14-4 Sea Dogs win over New Britain. Schrager hit a sacrifice fly, a three-run home run and a two-run double in the victory and would tie the record again with another six-rbi game in July. The win lifted Portland into sole possession of first place, a mark the team would hold for two consecutive months.
