BRITTON BRILLIANT, PORTLAND WINS 4-3 IN 10 OVER CATS: Drake Britton gave up two runs in the first, but settled down and kept the Rock Cats at bay over seven innings, and the Sea Dogs took down New Britain 4-3 in 10 innings Peter Hissey drove home Travis Shaw in the 10 th to put the Sea Dogs in front for good Portland held a 3-2 lead in the 8 th but Hissey dropped a fly ball to center and allowed the game tying run to score Britton finished his outing after seven innings The southpaw allowed the two runs on five hits, he walked one and struck out three hitters...jason Urquidez (4-2) picked up the win with two scoreless Jackie Bradley Jr. left the game in the first inning after turning his ankle rounding second The field was deemed unplayable and needed a 22 minute delay to be repaired. NOW THAT SPELLS RELIEF: Over the last 27 games, the Portland pen has allowed just 25 earned runs over innings (2.04 ERA) Portland s staff has been scoreless in 229 of their last 277 IP (83%) Since the break, they have a 2.88 ERA (103 ER/322.2 IP). WORTH THE HYPE: 19-year old Xander Bogaerts has played 10 games in his Double-A career and has 16 hits, including three home runs and six doubles, since his promotion from the Salem Red Sox Bogaerts is ranked the #2 prospect in the Red Sox system according to Baseball America In 104 games with Salem, the Aruba native hit.302 (116-for-384) with 15 homers and 64 RBI Also had 27 double and three triples. WHAT S ON DECK: The Sea Dogs end a three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats with the finale tomorrow night at 7:05 The Dogs then return home for a four-game weekend series against the Binghamton Mets (Mets affiliate), before a four-game series in New Hampshire.
