Watching the grounds crew prepare the diamond for the game. Filling out lineups on my scorecard. The thwack! when the first pitch of the game hits the catcher s glove. Mark Reynolds flashing some leather at third base. Chris Young tracking down an impossible-to-catch fly ball. The 7thinning stretch. Hearing D-Backs Swing after a win. I have been a baseball fan as long as I can remember. My Mom loved baseball and she passed that love on to me. We sat in the kitchen and listened together to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio. She got us season tickets to some of the Big Red Machine years, even though we had to drive nearly 3 hours to get to Cincinnati. We got to go World Series games together a dream come true for both of us. What wonderful memories! Now I m a die-hard Diamondbacks fan (my dog s registered name is Diamondback Dinger!) and have been a Season Ticket Holder since It s Trivia Time I m fortunate to get to share my season tickets with my best friend, Toni, and we attend about 30 home games each year, as well as a few road games. I love being a member of the fraternity of baseball fans. I love getting to talk with other fans D-backs fans as well as fans of the opposing teams who come to our ballpark about the game and the players. Having a friendly chat at the game with a fan of the opposing club is something very special and unique to baseball. I believe that you should treat those fans as guests. I believe you should never, EVER boo the home team and that you show appreciation when an opposing player makes a spectacular play. Those are also things very special and unique about baseball. As a D-Backs Season Ticket Holder, I really appreciate having a dedicated Season Ticket Representative. Our rep, Jamie Gostyla, takes great care of us and gives us that special treatment that makes us feel like we are truly part of the Diamondbacks family. ML SERVICE (entering 2010): None SIGNED THROUGH: 2010 HOW ACQUIRED: Enright was signed by the D-backs as their second-round selection in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft HIGHLIGHTS (through Sept. 1) His 2.91 ERA is second in the Majors among rookie pitchers (min. 9 starts)...since debuting on June 30, his 5 quality starts are tied for third among all rookie pitchers. Has not allowed more than 3 runs in any of his 9 big league starts and is the first pitcher to begin his career with a streak of that length since the Blue Jays Scott Richmond accomplished the feat in his first 10 starts ( ) the only other D-backs pitcher to allow no more than 3 runs in any of his first 9 Major League starts was Brandon Webb (first 13 starts in 2003) (Elias). Had a career-high 5-game hitting streak from July 20-Aug. 10, over which he batted.500 (6-for-12) with a double and 4 RBI the streak is the longest by a D-backs pitcher in their rookie season. Made his Major League debut on June Cardinals, earning the 4-2 win and becoming the 94th player to make his big league debut with the D-backs. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS (entering 2010) At Double-A Mobile in 2009, tied for the team-lead with 10 victories was named to the regular season Southern League All-Star team. In 5 starts during August last season, posted a 1.20 ERA (4 ER in 30.0 IP) with 21 strikeouts and a.223 opponents average (25-for- 112). In 2008, led Single-A Visalia with 12 wins, 29 starts, innings pitched and 143 strikeouts also led the California League in strikeouts and innings pitched. DID YOU KNOW? Our aunt also used to have the seats before she moved to California. Q Favorite aspect of being a Season Ticket Holder? A Our seats are almost a second home. Vaughn and Anne were in first grade and preschool, respectively, in Our seats at the ball games have given us, along with our friends and family, a place to share years of memories. Q Aside from winning the World Series in 2001, what is your favorite D-backs memory? A One of our most memorable games together was Gonzo, Counsell and Miguel Batista s last game with the Diamondbacks in It was nice having the opportunity to give the three upstanding players multiple standing ovations throughout the game, especially when Counsell capped off the day with a home run. Q If you were a D-backs player, what position would you play and what would your intro song be? A We would make up the pitching staff. We would recruit our Aunt Lynn to rejoin us in AZ as our fifth pitcher! Our intro song would be Wild Thing by the Troggs. Vaughn was named after Rick Wild Thing Vaughn, the character Charlie Sheen plays in the movie Major League. Q Who is your favorite D-backs player? A Barry Enright won over our family quickly. Yes, he s playing well, but he seems to really care and appreciate the opportunity he s been given with the team, which, when times are tough, we truly respect as fans. Q Favorite Rivalry? A The San Francisco Giants. They have a pretty ballpark and cable cars, but that s about it. And we still have an edge over them since we entered the NL West! Q Day game vs. night game? A In Phoenix...night games! Our city has such pretty weather in the evenings, and the stadium lights add a fantastic element to the game. Q Roof open or closed? A We enjoy the roof being open for night games, but when it s open for a day game, we get toasted! This is one of the best ways for you to share your feedback about the Diamondbacks organization from season ticket renewals to parking to your gameday experience at Chase Field. We would like to hear your thoughts on what s working well and also welcome your ideas on how to make it even better. I have found that interacting with fellow Season Ticket Holders in person is so much more pleasant and productive than talking via . It s easier to bounce some ideas around and also learn about some of the changes the D-backs have implemented that were inspired by STH suggestions. One of our Board members, Terry Parsons, mentioned that he has appreciated the opportunity to talk with Season Ticket Holders and help them with their questions and concerns in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. I feel that we provide some neutrality because we re often times in the same boat. It s great to have a dedicated location for folks to go to for information.
