RAY MATTER Yesterday at MIA, the Rays lost in walk-off fashion for the fifth time this season, tied for 4th-most in the majors behind the Twins (9), Mets (6) and Indians (6) despite the loss, the Rays are 8-2 in their last 10 games, improving from to over that span they are 13-7 in their last 20 games dating back to June 11 vs. TOR. Since April 18, the Rays are (.567), tied for the 5th-best winning pct. in the AL, behind the Yankees, Astros, Mariners and Red Sox the four teams in the majors on pace to win 100 games this stretch began after a 4-13 start, tied for the worst in club history. Last night was the 15th time the Rays lost when yielding 3 runs or fewer, most in the majors, ahead of the Orioles (13). PITCHING PROPERLY Last night the Rays allowed 3 runs, their most since June 24 vs. NYY (6), to snap a club-record streak of allowing 2 runs or fewer in six consecutive games their current streak of allowing 3 runs or fewer in seven consecutive games is tied for their longest of the season (third time) and tied for the 3rd-longest in franchise history, behind Aug 4-16, 2014 (12) and July 24 Aug 4, 2016 (10) in the last 7 games, the Rays have pitched to a 1.29 ERA (63-IP, 10-R/9-ER), and the 10 runs allowed match June for their fewest over a 7-game stretch this season.
