RAY MATTER Last night the Rays lost, 9-5, to snap a season-high-tying 8-game winning streak, tied for the 3rd-longest in franchise history at 70-62, the Rays are one game shy of matching their high-water mark of the season and two shy of matching their high-water mark under fourthyear Manager Kevin Cash the Rays are 8-1 in their last 9 games, outscoring opponents 46-21, over that span they are 13-5 (.722) in their last 18 games, 16-9 (.640) in August (6th in the majors) and (.583) since the All-Star break (tied for 8th in the majors) they are (.574) since their 4-13 start this season tied for the worst in franchise history. This is the second of three consecutive series against division leaders, with the Rays coming off a 3-game sweep of the Red Sox.
