1 FDOT Broward County Traffic Report August 10, 2018 through August 17, 2018 FORT LAUDERDALE -- Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the week of August 10 through August 17, Weather permitting, work will be done at the following locations throughout the county. For around-the-clock, real-time, traffic information on major south Florida highways call 511, download the FL 511 app on your mobile device or view real-time video from the Florida Department of Transportation s traffic monitoring cameras on the web at For updated lane closure information, visit our website at and follow us on Interstate 95 1.I-95 from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale I-95 will have three lanes closed in each direction Sunday through Thursday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The first two lanes will close at 9 p.m., the third lane at 10 p.m. and the fourth lane at 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m. I-95 in both directions, from south of Davie Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard, will have intermittent shoulder and ramp shoulder closures, as needed, daily and nightly. The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will be closed as needed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Cypress Creek Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed as needed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Commercial Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Please note that consecutive ramps will not be closed at the same time. The I-95 southbound entrance ramps from Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed as needed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road and Sunrise Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Oakland Park Boulevard will undergo a full nightly closure, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16.

The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will have one inside lane closed daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, through October 10. Description: This project will extend the High Occupancy Toll lanes from north of Commercial Boulevard to south of SW 10 th Street in Broward County. The scope of work includes adding a lane and converting the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to create two express lanes in each direction. Other work includes: installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and tolling equipment; widening bridges; and installing noise barrier walls at locations along I-95 northbound between Atlantic Boulevard and Sample Road, and along I-95 southbound north of Sample Road. Contract time for this $154 million project began Friday, January 8, 2016, with design activities currently underway. One lane in each direction of Cypress Creek Road will be closed daily, 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. McNab Road at I-95 will have two lanes closed in each direction, 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. 15 th Street at I-95 will undergo a full closure for bridge construction, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound 15 th Street traffic will be detoured south on Andrews Avenue, east on Atlantic Boulevard and north on NW 6 th Avenue. Westbound 15 th Street traffic will be detoured south on NW 6 th Avenue, west on Atlantic Boulevard, and north on Andrews Avenue. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Copans Road at I-95 will undergo a full closure for bridge construction, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Westbound traffic will be detoured via I-95 northbound and Sample Road. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via I-95 southbound and Atlantic Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. I-95 Full Closure Advanced Notice: I-95 southbound lanes at SW 10 th Street will be closed to traffic overnight, 11:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Wednesday night, August 22 and Thursday night, August 23 for overhead sign structure installation. Motorists will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to SW 10 th Street, Military Trail and Sample Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Please see detour flyer attached. Long-term Full Closure Notice: The Park & Ride entrance from the eastbound exit ramp to Cypress Creek Road is closed completely, reopening 5 a.m., Monday morning,

3 September 10. Traffic will be detoured east along Cypress Creek Road to a U-Turn at NE 7 th Ave/Corporate Drive, and then west along Cypress Creek Road to the Park and Ride. Long-term Full Closure Notice: The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from the Cypress Creek Park & Ride Lot is closed completely, reopening 5 a.m., Monday morning, September 10. Traffic will be detoured via West Cypress Creek Road or North Andrews Avenue and I-95. FHP will on site to assist motorists. The outside lanes of I-95 southbound from Hillsboro Boulevard to SW 10 th Street will be closed Sunday night through Thursday night with the first lane closing at 9 p.m., the second lane closing at 10 p.m. and the third lane, if necessary, closing at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. Two westbound lanes of SW 10 th Street at I-95 will be closed Sunday night through Thursday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The sidewalk on the north side of SW 10 th Street between SW 12 th Avenue and SW Natura Boulevard is closed through August Signs are in place to direct pedestrians to the south sidewalk. Description: Construction on this 1.5-mile project began Monday, January 26, Work consists of widening southbound I-95 to add an auxiliary lane from the Hillsboro Boulevard entrance ramp to the SW 10 th Street exit ramp, widening the existing southbound I-95 exit ramp to SW 10 th Street, addition of a free flow right turn lane to westbound SW 10 th Street, widening of westbound SW 10 th Street to add an acceleration lane, utility relocation, milling and resurfacing, bridge widening, installation of barrier walls, curbs, sidewalks, guardrail, drainage, overhead signs, signing and pavement markings, signals, lighting, and retaining walls. This is the first of five interchange improvement projects throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties. 4 Traffic Impacts: I-95 will have three lanes closed in each direction nightly, as needed, between Hillsboro Boulevard and Palmetto Park Road, with the first lane closing at 9:30 p.m., the second lane closing at 10:30 p.m., and the third lane closing at 11:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through August. The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed, 11:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Thursday night, August 16. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to SW 10 th Street, west to Military Trail and north to Hillsboro Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Camino Real between SW 15 th Avenue and SW 19 th Avenue will have one outside lane closed in each direction, daily, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday, August 13 through Friday, December 14. The scope of work includes widening and converting the existing I-95 HOV Lanes to Managed Lanes which will result in two tolled Express Lanes in each direction; the number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Other activities include reconstruction of I-95 on the northbound and southbound approaches to the Hillsboro Canal bridges, milling and resurfacing of I-95, construction of northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes between Hillsboro Boulevard and Palmetto Park Road, and construction of a northbound auxiliary lane between the SW 10 th Street entrance ramp and the Hillsboro Boulevard exit ramp. Other project improvements include: guardrail, barrier wall, attenuators, shoulder gutters, drainage, dredging of Hillsboro Canal, bridge widenings at Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real, bridge replacement at Hillsboro Canal, temporary and permanent retaining walls, noise wall construction, sign structures, portable traffic monitoring sites, toll gantry installation, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation, signing and pavement markings; Express Lane markers, lighting, ramp metering signals, utility relocation, and landscape relocation. Contract time for this $102 million project began Monday, July 10, 2017, with design and construction activities currently underway. 5 Two southbound lanes of I-75 from Miramar Parkway to Snake Creek Canal will be closed nightly Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. One northbound lane of I-75 from Snake Creek Canal to Florida s Turnpike will be closed nightly Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Two lanes in each direction of I-75 from Snake Creek Canal to Miami Gardens Drive will be closed nightly Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One northbound ramp lane of Florida s Turnpike from Okeechobee Road to I-75 Interchange will be closed Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane in each direction of Florida s Turnpike from Red Road to the I-75 Interchange may be closed Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane in each direction of Florida s Turnpike from I-75 Interchange to Okeechobee Road may be closed Sunday, August 12 through Thursday, August 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The southbound lanes of Florida s Turnpike between Red Road and Snake Creek Canal closure will continue 11 p.m. Thursday, August 16 until 6 a.m. Friday, August 17. During this closure, southbound Florida s Turnpike motorists wishing to continue south will be detoured to exit at Red Road (Exit 43), travel north on Red Road to Miramar Parkway, west on Miramar Parkway to I-75, then south on I-75 to take the exit ramp to Florida s Turnpike (Exit 5). In the event of inclement weather or other unexpected conditions this work will be rescheduled. 6. I-75 / I-595 Interchange Landscaping Improvements Project All lanes open through Friday, August 17. Description: The improvements under this contract include installing a temporary irrigation system, constructing retaining walls of various heights and lengths that will serve as elevated planters, and installing plants throughout the interchange including several species of palms and shade trees. Work on this project is expected to begin Monday, August. 14. One right lane of westbound I-595 from west of Hiatus Road to one mile east of NW 126 th Avenue will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14 through Thursday, August 16 for maintenance. Broward Boulevard Improvements and Bridge Replacement Project in Fort Lauderdale Up to two lanes in each direction of Broward Boulevard from US 1 to NW 18 Avenue (500 feet maximum at a time) will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for sidewalk construction and street light pole installation. The sidewalk on the south side of the road from NW 18 Avenue to NW 15 Avenue is closed for construction. Signs are in place to direct pedestrians to the open sidewalk on the north side of the road. Description: Project improvements include replacing the bridge over the North Fork of the New River, removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, upgrading crosswalk ramps to meet ADA requirements, upgrading signs and pavement markings, relocating bus shelters, adding roadway lighting, installing drainage structures, upgrading signalized intersections to mast arms, reconstructing sidewalks, and widening roadway to add bike lanes in each direction. Cost/Completion: $16 million / Summer Broward Mobility Project One lane on each direction of NW 31 Avenue from Oakland Park Boulevard to Commercial Boulevard will be closed Sunday through Thursday evenings between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for milling and resurfacing. One lane in each direction of SW 4 Avenue from SW 28 Street to SR 84 will be closed Sunday night through Thursday evenings between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for milling and resurfacing. Description: The improvements under this contract include constructing sidewalks, multi-use pedestrian paths, and bicycle lanes along 45 roadways in Broward County within Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Plantation, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Lauderhill, Oakland Park, Lauderdale Lakes, and Fort Lauderdale. Description: Project improvements include installing a new irrigation system in the median and along both sides of the road and installing plants in the median and along both sides of the road, including various species of palms, shade trees and shrubs. US 1 Improvements Project from Oakland Park Boulevard to Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park and Fort Lauderdale The outside lane in each direction of US 1 from Oakland Park Boulevard to Commercial Boulevard will be intermittently closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for pedestrian signal improvements. Description: Project improvements include removing existing asphalt and resurfacing the road repairing sidewalks along the roadway and constructing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps, adding a designated 4-foot bicycle lane on both sides of the roadway and upgrading pedestrian signals at NE 33 Court, NE 43 Street, NE 38 Court and Floranada Road. Cost/Completion: approximately $2 million / early SR 811 / NE 4 Avenue / Wilton Drive Complete Streets Project in Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors One northbound lane of SR 811 / NE 4 Avenue / Wilton Drive from Sunrise Boulevard to NE 11 Street will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for median demolition. Description: Project improvements include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, upgrading signs and pavement markings, adding a buffered bike lane in each direction, widening sidewalks, upgrading pedestrian signals and modifying pedestrian curb ramps to meet ADA requirements, upgrading roadway and pedestrian lighting, and installing new drainage structures and upgrading the existing drainage system. Sunset Strip Complete Streets Project from Sunrise Boulevard to Nob Hill Road in Sunrise All lanes open through Friday, August 17. Description: The improvements under this contract include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, upgrading crosswalk ramps to meet ADA requirements, adding roadway lighting, upgrading existing drainage structures and adding one new drainage structure east of NW 68 Avenue, replacing the signalized intersection at NW 64 Avenue with a roundabout, replacing the four-way stop sign at NW 19 Street with a roundabout, reconstructing sidewalks in various locations, upgrading signs and pavement markings, and adding bike lanes throughout the corridor as follows Nob Hill Road to NW 15 Street: Eliminating a travel lane by milling, resurfacing, and restriping to provide one 12-foot travel lane and a 6-foot bike lane separated by a 3-foot striped buffer; NW 15 Street to Sunrise Boulevard: Widening the road to accommodate 5-foot bike lanes; At the intersections of Nob Hill Road, Pine Island Road, University Drive and Sunrise Boulevard, two through lanes will be maintained in each direction

Cost/Completion: $3.4 million / Summer SR 7 Improvements Project from Commercial Boulevard to south of Glades Road in Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale, Margate, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Parkland and Palm Beach County Commercial Boulevard to Broward / Palm Beach County Line: One lane in each direction of SR 7 from north of NW 31 Street to south of the Broward / Palm Beach County Line will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the installation of drainage structures, concrete operations, and road widening. One southbound lane of SR 7 from Atlantic Boulevard to NW 31 Street will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for conduit installation. Description: The improvements under this contract include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, upgrading pedestrian features including10-foot sidewalks on both sides and detectable warning surfaces at crosswalks, installing overhead sign structures, upgrading signs and pavement markings to include a 7-foot bike lane in each direction, installing new bus shelters with bicycle racks, trash receptacles, and benches, upgrading drainage structures, upgrading signalization, including pedestrian signals and detectors and vehicle video detection, and upgrading lighting. One lane in each direction of SR 7 from the Broward / Palm Beach County Line to south of Glades Road will be closed Sunday through Thursday evenings between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, August 12 for milling and resurfacing. One northbound lane of SR 7 from the Broward / Palm Beach County Line to south of Glades Road will be closed Monday through Thursday evenings between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Monday, August 13 for AT&T manhole adjustments. Description: The improvements under this contract include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, minor shoulder widening, upgrading drainage structures, upgrading pedestrian features including a 10-foot sidewalk on the west side and a 5-foot sidewalk on the east side, and detectable warning surfaces at crosswalks, upgrading signalization, including pedestrian signals and detectors and vehicle video detection, upgrading signs and pavement markings to include a 7-foot bike lane in each direction, and upgrading lighting. 9 15.Districtwide Truck Parking Availability System Project in Martin, St. Lucie, and Broward Counties There are no anticipated traffic impacts on this project and no more than three (3) parking stops will be closed at a time at each location. All lanes are open through August 17. Description: On Monday, March 19, Traffic Control Devices, Inc. will begin installing a Truck Parking Availability System (TPAS) at rest areas and weigh stations in Martin, St. Lucie, and Broward Counties, which detects available spaces at rest areas and weigh stations and alerts commercial drivers via message boards. The Truck Parking Availability System installation will occur at the following locations: I-95 Northbound & Southbound Rest Areas in St. Lucie County at MM 133, two miles north of Orange Avenue / SR 68 (Exit 131), near Ft. Pierce; I-95 Northbound Rest Area in Martin County at MM 106, four miles south of Martin Highway / SR 714 (Exit 110), near Palm City; I-95 Southbound Rest Area in Martin County at MM 107, three miles south of Martin Highway / SR 714 (Exit 110), near Palm City; I-95 Southbound Weigh-in- Motion Station in Martin County at MM 113, one mile south of Becker Road (Exit 114), near Palm City; I-95 Northbound Weigh-in-Motion Station in Martin County at MM 92, four miles south of Bridge Road (Exit 96), near Hobe Sound; and I-75 Rest Area in Broward County at MM 34, 11 miles north of SR 25 / US 27 South (Exit 23), near Weston.
