Est Not For Profit, Not For Power, Just For Dancing Every Hour January-February 2016 Ringing in the new year! Happy New Year D.C. Hand Dance Club! Mitten Dance - General Membership Meeting Jan 23, Our Mitten Dance will take place on Saturday, January 23 at the Knights of Columbus. There will be a dance lesson from 7:00-7:30 p.m. A general membership meeting will be held beginning at 7:30-8:00 p.m. Valentine s Dance: Feb 13, 2016: The Valentine s Dance will be held at Knights of Columbus on Saturday, February 13. MEET ME AT THE BEACH (MMATB): March 9-13, 2016: MMATB will once again be held at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City, MD. Mark your calendars - Presenting our GLITZ and Glamour weekend! This year we present for your enjoyment - Bryan Clark! He will perform on Wednesday evening, see page 9 in this newsletter for more information. We will be dancing on Thursday night at Seacrets Niteclub, 117 West 49 th Street, Ocean City, MD, from 6-11:30 p.m. From 6-8 p.m., a private party with light fare for those with MMATB weekend passes ONLY. After 8 p.m. the public is invited to join us for a $5.00 cover. On Thursday through Saturday, March 10-12, activities will include MMATB registration, dance workshops and open dancing throughout the day and evening hours. Tables for Friday and Saturday nights will once again be assigned. Don t forget to book your room! The Clarion Hotel has a special room rate of $99 per night for Friday and Saturday and for Early Birds a very special rate for Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday nights of $75.00 per night plus tax. These rates are guaranteed until February 1, See Hotel Room Reservations on page 6. CLUB MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL Remember the change in our Bylaws: 2016 membership is due January 1, you will continue to get the s until March 1, but you need to renew at or before the January dance or be charged non-member fees. There will be renewal forms at the dance, also the membership renewal form can be found on page 4 of this newsletter. 2 From the President Happy New Year! A very Happy New Year, I hope 2016 finds you happy, wealthy & wise. We are all happy because we have so many wonderful places to dance; wealthy because we have a wonderful Hand Dance family; and wise enough to appreciate all of it!! Your Board of Directors is working on many fun events for 2016, starting with a new location for our monthly dances, Knights of Columbus in Bowie. Meet Me At The Beach in March will have a Vegas theme; the Glitz & Glamour of old time Vegas. We will be starting on Wednesday, March 9 th with a special Vegas Entertainer! We are working on a festive picnic for this summer and unique themes for future monthly dances. Listen to the announcements at our venues; check your s; and our website for more details. Information about some of these events will be reviewed during our Membership Meeting at the January 23th dance.
