1 Date: October 5-19 Students will be out of school on October for Court Days. Students will resume classes on October 16th. Congratulations to Jane Wise for qualifying for the Girls state golf tournament with a 94! She will play in the state tournament on October 4-6 in Bowling Green, KY. The Bank of the Tribe had their grand opening on October 2nd and 3rd. Students are able to contribute money to the bank that they can use at a later time. Did you know that your student might be eligible to vote in the November 6th general election? If your student will turn 18 before November 6, they can register to vote in the Guidance Office. Deadline to register is October 9th. Join a club today! The next club day is Monday, October 8! Boys and Girls Bowling team tryouts are Oct , 4-6 p.m. at Sterling Lanes. All students must have a current KHSAA physical with them at tryouts. Contact Ms. Charlotte Jones or Mrs. Felicia Bond for further information. Parents, are you aware of the teacher web pages available for both you and your student to check at any time without a password? Teachers are keeping their pages up to date this school year as a device to help drive instruction as well as offer information to students and parents alike about the learning environment at MCHS. Information on contacting teachers is available through the website as well as methods of contact and best times. Log on today and see what is happening at MCHS! AP English is traveling to Bryan Station on Saturday, October 6, for an AP Study Session. Teachers from across the state and nation will provide workshop sessions on each aspect of our AP English exams. The ESS tutoring program began the week of September 24 28th. What is ESS? The Extended School Services program provides extended instructional time for students who need more time to meet the academic goals for their grade level. Any student at the high school can participate with or without a referral by a teacher or administrator. ESS does not interfere with regular classroom instruction because it is provided outside normal school hours (after or before school and in the summer). It is a free program to all students. ESS can offer all students a boost in all content areas to ensure that all students learn at a high level. The culture at the school is changing into a more positive, engaging attitude. The students are winning in the classroom, on the field of competition, and in life. Together with your help, we will continue to see our community, our school, and our students reach their full potential!

3 Gina Kinser I am married to Myron Kinser and we have a wonderful 10 year old son Evan. We live in Stanton, Ky. I previously taught math at Powell County High School for 9 years. Teaching is my second career. I was in the IT field for over 14 years. I did everything from computer programming, to networking, to telecommunications. I graduated from UK with a BS in mathematics and Morehead State University with an MA in teaching. Taylor Wade This is my first year teaching. I graduated in May from Midway College with a BA in Elementary Education and a K-12 Special Education Certificate. I am from Versailles, but I currently live here in Mt. Sterling. I co-teach in English with Laura Faulkner, Sheena Bromagen, and Lori Looney. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Softball, football, and basketball are my favorite sports. I will be an assistant coach on our Lady Indians Softball team this year. I am enjoying this year and love working with our students. Jimmy Roe Jimmy Roe is a Senior and a cadet in the JROTC program who recently graduated Basic training and is now enlisted in the National Guard.
