2 Volume 1, Issue 9 Visit Us at: Wjw-wjt.org Page 2 A Message from Our President... WJW-WJT Families- Webster We are nearing the beginning of the season and everyone is doing an incredible job! The cheerleaders have learned a number of sideline cheers and routines, and the football teams are working on the fundamentals that will provide them with a solid foundation for the season and beyond. Our scrimmage will be played this weekend at Boulter Field beginning at 9:30. Please come root on all of our teams and get a taste of what's to come. Our new sound system was installed this week and we will have the opportunity to begin using Jr Warrior / it this weekend. This will further enhance the game day experience for all of our participants, as well as visiting teams and fans. Please be sure to work with your team managers as they will be establishing volunteer schedules for our upcoming games. We rely heavily on the help of all volunteers to make our games run smoothly. Thank you in advance for your assistance and I'm sure that you will enjoy the opportunity to help out. Jr Titans We were able to conduct our Parent Meeting for Heads Up Football this week, as well as the district conducting CARE training for all participants and any parents that were able to attend. We hold these programs very close to the foundation of our program and appreciate you attending these events. I look forward to seeing you all at games! Go Webster! Tom Widell President, WJW-WJT KUDOS!! Thank you for your continued support of the Parking rules on Sherwood Avenue! The school is happy and the neighbors are happy 2 of them even have given us positive feedback! In the past, we have only got complaints. Great job everyone! Questions? President@WJW-WJT.ORG KEEP WORKING ON KEEPING IT CLEAN: The school has called us again about water bottles and garbage being left on the fields. It has been impeding their mowers. Every team is responsible for their field after each practice. Show our WJW-WJT PRIDE and Keep it Clean! This goes for our games too! Help out and pick up all around you in the stands!

The cheerleaders are all doing an amazing job and the amount of skill they develop each week is extraordinary. This is all accomplished through the wonderful team of coaches they have, the parental support they are receiving and their own dedication to cheer. Thank you so much for getting your girls to and from practice each night!!!! Please join us this Thursday as each team showcases their skill for the parents, beginning at 7:30. We promise it will be an evening of excitement!!! Tuesday night we will continue our uniform sizing for anyone that did not attend our sessions on July 15th and 16th. The girls will be sized during practice and we will have the check-out immediately following practice. If you ordered items in July, they will be also be available for pick-up. As a reminder, attending practice is crucial to the entire team. If your daughter is NOT at practice, her team suffers. Stunt groups can't go up and formations in cheers and dances need to be redeveloped. Please be sure to have your daughter attend EVERY practice. Our games begin next week and our first competition is on October 5th, we need the girls at practice. 8 What is Heads Up Football? USA football s player safety program that is the new standard in football. It is a comprehensive approach to player safety involving leagues, parents, players and coaches. Player Safety Coach Each organization has a designated Player Safety Coach that is in charge of the implementation of this program. The PSC trains our coaches on Heads Up football, trains our kids on Heads Up football, and educates the Parents. Education and Certification All of WJW-WJT coaches have been through USA Football s coaches certification program, which is a comprehensive education program into coaching football at an age appropriate level. Concussion Awareness All Coaches have been trained by USA football /CDC. Our head coaches have taken it one step further and had concussion training from Webster Immediate Care Doctors. Equipment Fitting Our players are equipped in top of the line equipment. All of the WJW-WJT helmets are sent back for re-conditioning each and every season. Our Riddell Representative was on hand, to fit our boys with helmets during equipment night. Heads Up Tackling All of our teams have been trained in Heads Up Football. USA Football s Heads Up Tackling is a step-by-step protocol to teach the core principles of the skill and sets a new standard in player safety. The program utilizes five fundamentals through a series of drills to reinforce proper tackling mechanics and teach players how to properly tackle with a focus on reducing helmet contact. For more information go to: WJW-WJT is proud to be HEADS UP Certified!
