7 V o l u m e 1 5, I s s u e 3 P a g e 7 NY-PENN Meeting Tidbits Here are a few snapshots from our recent meetings The A-Co meeting at Bob and Karen Messersmith s was well attended by A-Co. members. Many thanks to Bob and Karen for being such great hosts. This rare periscope was on display at the Home Front Café during the HM meeting. This is one of the few remaining periscopes from the IOWA class Battleships main gun turrets. This would be mounted in the turret and would be in line with the direction the guns were aimed. In the event that the Fire Control center on the ship was disabled, the main guns could be aimed visually with this periscope. Many thanks to the Pollard s for their hospitality in hosting the Hudson Mohawk meeting in February. The meeting was well attended. PAGE 7
