Inspectors from the State of Alabama toured the school Monday, October 3 to affirm that all elements of the required inspection were satisfactory. Furniture and supplies will be moved the weekend of October 7. Teachers will set up classrooms and prepare for their students arrival after Fall Break. The first day for students at Magnolia Elementary School will be Wednesday, October 12, Trussville City Schools will hold a Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 4:00 pm at the front entrance of the school. The school will be open for tours from 4:30-6:30 pm. Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill stated, We are so excited Magnolia Elementary School is complete and ready to open. The students on the south side of Trussville are moving into a beautiful new building in their own neighborhood. It is a great day for Trussville City Schools. Dr. Autumm Jeter, principal of Magnolia Elementary School said, I, along with the faculty and staff of Magnolia Elementary School are more than excited and overjoyed about opening the doors soon. Our school has operated so efficiently and effectively while housed at Paine and we re looking forward to continuing the great teaching and learning at our new school. With Magnolia being located right there with our families, it brings upon a natural feeling of joy and excitement from everyone. We are thankful for the weeks we ve spent here at Paine Elementary and we re ready to smile and welcome our families to our brand new community school! The generous donation will be split between the five schools. the Trussville City Schools Foundation (TCSF) is an organization founded in 2007 to mobilize community support for TCS. The Foundation has raised funds through financial supporters, recurring donors, the annual Paws for a Cause Gale, the Cahaba Shrimp boil and through sales of naming opportunities for our schools. The Foundation would like to express their deep gratitude to the Trussville community for its continues support. Congratulations to the HTHS Marching Husky Band for a great performance at the Hartselle Southern Hospitality Marching Competition October 1, The drum majors, color guard, dance line, percussion, and band all received superior ratings. The color guard and dance line won best overall in Class AAAAA. The band received the 3rd highest score of the competition. The color guard won the Dexter Greenhaw Memorial Award for the highest scoring color guard of the entire competition. Way to go HTHS Band! Great Job! ******************************************* Cahaba 2nd graders helping their school recognize the P.A.C.E. word of the month with the "responsibility wall"!

Students recognizing other students for the P.A.C.E. trait of the month. ****************************************** 25th Annual Husky Challenge - You are invited! The HTHS Cross Country Team will host its 25th Annual St. Vincent's Husky Challenge on Saturday, October 15th. In conjunction with the race, the team will host an Alumni Reunion/Homecoming weekend. If you ran or know someone who ran for HTHS (Coaches David and Anita Dobbs) in the last 25 years, there will be an alumni tailgate at the game Friday, October 14th.
5 Page 5 of 12 In addition, all alumni runners are invited to participate in a Husky Challenge Alumni Welcome at the Football Game on October 14. Coaches David and Anita Dobbs will be on the track between the 1st and 2nd quarters of the game to welcome everyone who participated in the last 25 years of the Husky Challenge. Please join us at the gate going onto the field (field house end of the track) with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. All runners will join Coaches David and Anita Dobbs in the end zone. Also, everyone is invited to the Husky Challenge on Saturday, October 15th for the 25th year of CC racing. Join us for BBQ after the races. The Husky Challenge finish line is in the stadium. Welcome to Trussville! ****************************************** HTHS Biomedical Science Academy visits UAB Emergency Room The HTHS Biomedical Science Academy Biomedical Innovations Class recently visited the UAB Emergency Room and Interdisciplinary Simulation Center. Students learned how innovation in

The students are developing their own innovations to help with the problem of Emergency Department overcrowding. *********************************************** Transportation Department honored in Husky Room The TCS Transportation Department was honored by HTHS and the HTHS Athletic Foundation on Friday, September 30 with a reception in the Husky Room. Bus Drivers were invited to stop by and enjoy a BBQ. TCS was honored that Mr. Elliot Martin was in attendance. Mr. Martin was a bus driver for the Trussville area in 1943 and TCS thanks all bus drivers, mechanics and the transportation department, as well as, Mr. Martin for their service to the students of Trussville. *********************************************** Thank you Trussville Daybreak Rotary for your service with Rotary Readers!

Art I by Kumani G., grade 7 What we did in art this week was really challenging. On Monday we worked on our grid art work project. Tuesday was the last day to work on it. On Wednesday we learned our primary colors, secondary colors, and intermediate colors by painting on the color wheel. Thursday we started to work on a new project called colo harmonies. We did one harmony which involved the primary colors. Friday we worked on a new color harmony which involved lights and darks of just one color.
