The art exhibit usually features oe mai faculty member ad showcases other faculty artwork i ceramics, photography, mixed media, prits, paitigs, sculptures ad metals, accordig to Joh Hadley, director of SFA art galleries. This year, Daiel Aguiao, assistat professor of graphic desig, is the featured artist. This show highlights the work of our SFA School of Art faculty with a wide variety of work, Hadley said. SFA s fulltime studio ad adjuct faculty members ca participate i the exhibit, accordig to Cadace Hicks, 2-D Desig assistat professor. Hicks said the amout of time each faculty member puts ito this show will vary accordig to the type of art beig preseted. The most excitig part about the faculty exhibit would be the diversity of the artwork beig displayed, Hicks said. We faculty members are all uique, but the beauty is that we ca come together ad work i the same buildig ad teach the same studets. The faculty exhibit has grow over the years, showig studets a differet side of their professors. Every year, the goal is to get more studets to atted i purpose to share with them what the faculty members are creatig outside of school, Hicks said. This is always the most well-atteded evet of the year. Aguiao has more tha a doze digital illustratio art pieces featured o the upper level of the Cole Art Ceter. Every year, a featured artist is rotated based upo the ewest faculty that has come i, ad ow it s my tur, Aguiao said. His artwork is iflueced by the Yucata culture. Aguiao is a dual citize with Mexico, which is where he lives every summer. Accordig to Aguiao, art has bee a part of his life sice he was a child, but i college, he pursued graphic desig. It was t util four years ago that he bega doig artwork for himself. Aguiao has had the opportuity to further his skills as a artist sice workig at SFA. This is his favorite because it is his latest piece ad a combiatio of where he stads artistically. Whichever food you feel like eatig, it s there with just a swipe of your studet ID. But what about the studets who live off campus or do t have eough moey to cosistetly buy food? The aswer is o the third floor of the BPSC withi a orgaizatio called Huger Jacks. Huger Jacks is a studetru orgaizatio that meets oce a week to give a had to those who eed the extra help i gettig food. Studets ca go ad grab ay food they eed that week from the patry, also kow as Food for Thought. They were iitiated with some studets from a utritio ad dietetics backgroud origially, said Molly Moody, assistat director of leadership ad service i the studet egagemet programs. This year brigs a ewly appoited presidet Jessica Cuitareo, seior psychology major from Plao, ad also a returig member. I heard about it through a fried. She was treasurer at the time about two years ago, ad she let me kow that there was a food patry o campus ad if we would like to voluteer or joi them we could, Cuitareo said. Moody ad Dr. Mary Hawkis, assistat professor i the kiesiology ad health sciece departmet, both oversee the studet-ru program. Some goals this year are to make sure the studets who eed help will ot feel guilty about usig the free service. Our mai missio for Huger Jacks is to really lead the way ito educatig ad dimiishig some of the food isecurities that we have o our campus through collaboratig with other orgaizatios, or just ruig food drives or just educatioal tables outside to let everybody kow about us ad what they ca do to keep healthy, Cuitareo said. Aother goal for the orgaizatio is to show each studet who walks i how they could also cook with what food items they get from Food for Thought. They ve bee workig o recipe cards lately, Moody said. Like, Here s what you ca make with thigs that we have i the patry, so it s ot just aother cup of Chef Boyardee or just aother ca of gree beas, like You ca make gree bea casserole. Here, let s help you shop specifically for what you ca use to have a variety. As much good as the Huger Jacks are doig for this o-campus commuity, they caot keep doig it aloe, Cuitareo said. Just gettig more people ivolved ad makig sure that it s just ot the officers or the members doig the work, but makig sure that we ca get other people to put their iput ito what they would like to see us do o campus [is a mai focus], Cuitareo said. It s ot just about the food, it is also about the relatioships everyoe o the Huger Jacks team has with each studet who comes i, she said. Huger Jacks strives to better uderstad studets ad make sure their voices are heard. I wat to make sure studets have exactly what they eed ad that we ca tell the story well, because the better we ca tell the story, the better the studets ca tell their story at their campus ad their istitutio, Moody said. Group workout classes offer differet types of exercise By Raquel Torres Social Media Editor The gym ca be very itimatig for some people, from the muscle me liftig big weights to the fit people ruig the treadmills. Some studets feel like eyes are watchig ad judgig, but this does t mea you have to give up o your workout routie. Accordig to the Campus Recreatio website, the rec offers various Group Axe classes every day of the week. The Group Axe classes rage from cyclig, total body workouts, dace, mid ad body, targeted workouts ad aquatic workouts. I each of these categories, there are may types of classes such as cycle sculpt, booty sculpt, yoga, pilates, Zumba ad much more. These classes offer alterative ways to get your workout doe. The Group Axe istructors are all CPR/AED certified ad go through istructor traiig. For every class, the recreatio ceter offers equipmet if eeded, like yoga mats, weights, ad more, accordig to the Campus Recreatio website. There are multiple classes a day at differet times, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. I teach yoga three times a week, alog with two others. You ca free up your space ad help the eviromet. The Nu is the fifth chapter of The Cojurig series. Most of them were very good for the most part, but this chapter was the exceptio. The evets i this film take place before Aabelle ad both Cojurig movies. I really wated to like this movie. The first time I saw the u character was i The Cojurig 2, ad it was terrifyig. I was scared out of my seat. So, whe I heard they were makig the u its ow movie, I could t wait to see it. The film starts i a dark hallway where two us desperately try to cotai some type of evil. This scee worked well i capturig the audiece s attetio ad gettig me excited that this was hopefully goig to be a scary movie. As the settig fast forwards to 1953, we begi to meet our mai characters: Frechie, Father Burke ad Sister Iree. I really loved the cast. It icludes Demia Bichir as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga as Sister Iree ad Joas Bloquet as Frechie. The thig I foud to be iterestig is they used Taissa Farmiga, who is actually Vera Farmiga s yougest sister. Vera Farmiga plays Lorraie Warre i the Cojurig movies. I liked that because I saw a resemblace i the girls throughout the movie, ad it remided me i some sort of way that all movies were coected. The evets took place i Romaia i a cursed abbey where a evil lived. The settig was dark the etire movie, which made it easy for me to look at the backgroud to see if aythig appeared. There were a lot of jumps throughout the film that made me squeeze my parter s had, but most of them I saw comig. What really disappoited me was seeig characters fight off possessed zombies. I thought that was overused. We ve see eough of that over the recet years with The Walkig Dead ad other TV shows. I was very disappoited to see it i this movie. I also felt like Frechie s role i the movie was just to save the father ad the u. But his role i the movie does make sese at the ed. I also thought that most thigs that happeed i the story were almost impossible ad felt very rushed. I felt as if the writers wated to hurry up ad move to the ext scee. If you have t see the movie yet I do t wat to spoil aythig, but I feel like it would have bee impossible for a real perso to fid Father Burke s locatio, buried six feet uder i a grave. Sister Iree had a visio ad she quickly foud him. I felt like i real life this would have ever happeed. But, alas, it is just a movie. What I most liked about the movie was the soudtrack. I thik that s what really kept me at the edge of my seat i the scary scees. I saw this movie i IMAX to get the full experiece, so whe the u appeared i the movie there was loud choir music. I felt like that was a very great elemet i the movie. Overall, The Nu had great potetial. It could have bee as scary as the previous chapters, but I feel the poit was totally missed. I The Cojurig 2, I was so scared of the u character, but after watchig the film this weeked, I am o loger scared of the u. This makes me disappoited because the commercials said Do t watch this aloe, ad I feel like I could. Sadly, this movie gets a 3/10 ratig from me. Beaumot

The orgaizatio offers differet programs i order to get iformatio out to studets ad the public. Presetatios we give to ay orgaizatio, class, ay group of people that would like a presetatio, said Jorda Jefferys, studet director ad graduate studet from Willis. They request the topics that they wat to cover ad from there we go i ad tell them what we feel they eed to kow to make better moey decisios i these areas. The studet advisers also coduct oe-o-oe meetigs to further assist studets ad commuity members. O u r oe - o- oe appoitmets are kid of like fiacial advisig sessios, or that s what they re supposed to be modeled after, where a perso ca come i oeo-oe ad get help with their specific eeds, Jefferys said. Workshops are the presetatios we put o through the program, it s for aybody to atted, over topics that we feel are most importat. Alog with the various programs offered, the studet advisers also host a special workshop every year. The biggest workshop week that we have is called Moey Smart Week, ad it s always i the sprig, Jefferys said. Moey Smart Week is a week-log, we give presetatios where we talk about differet topics. Last year we talked about budget ad savigs, credit, we had fiacial aid come i ad talk. We talked about career developmet skills with the CCPD. New major offered by Food, Nutritio, Dietetics program By Laure Owes The Food, Nutritio ad Dietetics program is offerig a ew major for studets who wish to pursue a less cliical career i utritio. The ew major is called Food ad Nutritio, ad accordig to the School of Huma Scieces page o the SFA website, it is iteded for studets who have a iterest i utritio, but ot the cliical aspects that come with dietetics. Studets who choose this major ca pursue a more commuity-focused utritio career, but the program does ot allow them to become registered dieticias. A cl i ica l dieticia works i a hospital settig ad implemets medical utritio therapy, said Darla O Dwyer, associate professor of the Food, Nutritio ad Dietetics program. They re required to look up labs, work with doctors ad to implemet diet therapies for medical coditios. There s a group of studets that do t really wat to do that ad would rather work i a commuity settig or maybe i a health coachig type capacity, ad that s what this major s for. Food ad Nutritio majors ca also pursue a mior, some of which iclude child ad family developmet, commuicatios, culiary ad health sciece. The ew major also offers a itership. We really wated to meet the eeds of the studets by allowig them a itership durig their udergrad, but also a mior, so that they could focus i o their iterests ad how they wated to apply their utritio degree, Drake said. Some chages that make the ew major uique, accordig to Drake, ivolve the removal of some of the more cliical courses ad the additio of existig courses the studets who chose the ew major are glad to have more optios ivolvig their field of study. She said the iclusio of the mior has especially made it to where studets wishig to pursue a less cliical utritio degree ca do a lot more tha they previously could. I thik studets are very happy to have optios ad ot have to follow a specific track if they do t wat to be i cliical dietetics, O Dwyer said. Every semester I have ordered from the bookstore I ve had at least oe, if ot multiple items, go o back order. I ve eve had etire purchases lost betwee them arrivig ad goig to pick them up. It is rare that a explaatio will be give for why the books are ot available. A studet will simply receive a statig that the materials they ordered are o backorder ad they will receive aother whe they are ready to be shipped or picked up istore. Success has may differet forms, but for Qui Joes, success is just beig the absolute best at the game of football. Joes is a 6-foot, 232- poud liebacker from the football state of Mississippi. The curret startig liebacker for the SFA Lumberjacks plays the game like it s i his DNA. However, football was t Joes first love growig up. I was a basketball player, ad my dad was a basketball player straight up, Joes said. He had me shootig 500 jumpers a day amogst other thigs to try ad force ad press the game of basketball ito me. Despite his father s love for the game of basketball, Joes had his heart set o football, ad oce he made that trasitio, there was o turig back. I did t wat my dad to be disappoited or mad at me because I did t try to play a sport that he wated to play, Joes said. The game of football was so competitive, ad I loved the way it was played. The staff really wated me to be here, so I just felt like I was meat to play for Coach Byrd ad this team. Joes is a high-powered, high-motored, hard hittig liebacker.
