1 Poinsettia Palette October Issue 10 Newsletter of the Poinsettia Painters Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters, Ventura County CA. Presidents Message It is now the end of September and I think we are all ready for a change in the weather. Let s all hope that fall will bring some cooler weather with some much needed rain. We had a wonderful Mystery Paint-In with Sandy LeFlore painting a cute little frog. Thank You Sandy we always have so much fun when you re the teacher. Thank you Carla for setting up such a fun day. Unfortunately we didn t have a very good response to the Connie Parkinson Seminar planned for October so Carla decided it would have to be cancelled. Please remember a lot of time and effort goes into planning chapter events (paint-ins, seminars, mystery paint-ins, field trips, parties, etc.) It is so very important that everyone registers/signs up early so that the event chairmen can plan accordingly and we can avoid future event cancellations. We passed around a signup sheet at the last meeting for members to contribute to the monthly raffles and I would like to thank everyone that signed up. Our monthly raffles have not been paying for the Monday night meetings rent lately so I am hoping that with your help and the support of all our members this will change. A big thank you does however go out to Willene & Cathy for the lovely items they contributed to the raffle this last month as we did finally make a little more than the rent this month. On September 26 th we had a full house at the Newbury Park Library painting the Christmas Boot with another fun and wonderful teacher Sandi Strecker. Wow 2 great big brush teachers in a row how many chapters are that lucky. Thanks Sandi for a great day. There is only one paint-in left in the year on November 21 st ; Carol Ganzi will be teaching the beautiful Rose Delight get your registrations in now for this class. Don t forget to get your registrations into Liz for another great Holiday Party at the Sterling Hills Golf Club on December 5 th. At the October 12 th meeting we will have Brochures and Tickets for the year end opportunity drawing to be held on December 5 th at our holiday party. Don t forget that the chapter does request that every member purchase or sell a minimum of 20 tickets. This is our main fund raiser for the year to keep the chapter going for the next year. Your membership and support is very important to the chapter. If you are not present at the meeting your tickets will be mailed out to you. Last but not least please mark your calendar to attend the October 12 th meeting to vote for your officers for the 2016 & 2017 term of office. Karen Lewis 1
